[EDIT: oops I didn't see this.. https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/reca...s-ions-194516/ ]
" 2007-2009 Chevrolet Cobalt, Pontiac G5, 2007 Chevrolet Equinox, Pontiac Torrent, 2007 Saturn Ion
The Problem: General Motors is recalling 2007 Chevrolet Equinox and Pontiac Torrent models originally sold or currently registered in Arizona, California, Nevada, and Texas; model year 2007 through 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt, Pontiac G5, and Saturn ION vehicles originally sold, or currently registered in, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Florida, Nevada, Oklahoma, or Texas. These vehicles have a faulty return port on the fuel pump module may crack, which could cause a fuel leak.
The Fix: General Motors will notify owners and replace the fuel pump module at no charge. Owners can contact GM at 800-521-7300, or NHTSA’s Vehicle Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236.
Number of Units Affected: 40,859 2007-2009 Chevrolet Cobalt, Pontiac G5 models; 2007 Chevrolet Equinox and Pontiac Torrent models. "

I still dont understand why the 05 and 06 models r'nt included in this... Ive got an 06 and i got the fuel leak from the pump. I argued a bit with the dealer and showed them a bunch of articles sayingit was a fire risk and blah blah blah so they paid for labor and i paid for the part. So i paid like 110 dollars or something

Got a letter yesterday in the mail that says my 08 is under special coverage, so if it has a problem they'll fix it for free, and it came with a reimbursement form if you've had to fix the problem before the recall I guess.

By mid-day today I kept smelling gas but didnt think it was from my car..then found out it was coming from my car when I saw a wet spot and a trail..looked under the car and saw gas dripping and drove straight to the dealership..they told me the fuel pump have already been changed 5 months ago but may have been a faulty pump so hopefuly I get good news tomorrow that it will be covered because I dont think I can pay hundreds of dollars to get it fixed....have anyone had their fuel pump go out from being replaced of the recall and if it was a faulty one?

Just a heads up, I've replaced several sets of fuel lines in cobalts/Ions. Right where they bend on the frame on the drivers rear to go over the exhaust, they're wrapped in heat wrap for the exhaust and it traps dirt/moisture and salt if your in the NE. Rusts right out they leak.
Pita to replace and I normally just patch in new line. Not saying its your problem, just something to look for

UPDATE: I dropped off the car at my dealership this morning and they just called. The fuel leak is from the fuel pump and will be covered under the TSB.
WHOO HOOO!!
So it looks like Canadian cars from 2006 are covered regardless of mileage considering I have 312,000KMS / 194,000 miles on my modded LSJ.
Good thing I knew about it since i think there may have been a chance if I didn't I might have been out of pocket for this.
