RECALL: Fuel Leak on 2006-2007 Cobalts, Pursuits, Ions
#26
I got the letter too. I took my car to the GM dealer here in Cali I bought it from. The lead sevice writer told me to wait. Said he will call me when he can deal with the issue and be totally free. Whats up with that? I still have GM extended warranty from when I bought December 06.

I am having this exact some problem but cannot have the recall covered since I don't live in one of the recall states.
I plan on filing a complaint with the National Highway and Safety Administration at 1-888-327-4236. If enough of us call we may be able to pressure GM to cover this recall nationwide.

I had to have mine replaced on my 06 LSJ about a month ago. I never saw a check engine light but it was pretty much spewing fuel underneath the car and it was really hard to start after it sat for a while.

That's how mine was
No CEL but hard starting and my garage smelled like fuel.
BTW: I guess I'll have to go back into hiding, aperently the Zombie thread apocolyps isnt over...

Have any Canadians been successful with the recall (that's apparently not a recall for those in the colder climates)?
I find that I get a strong smell of gas but only after I fill up my tank...
Transport Canada is "aware" of the recall but have been convinced that it only applies via VIN# and to those where there is a sustained temperature above 45*C or something like that.
Kind of silly if you ask me, but I've also been told that it's something that needs to be determined by GM since there isn't anything official applicable to those of us up north...
so I'm wondering if anyone's had success at any particular dealers in or near Rob Ford Country

Has anyone had "Jackie" run their vin? Special coverage 12191....unlimited mileage unlimited year for fuel odor or spottonig on the ground. they will replace fuel sender. If you already had it done they will reimburse. been on cobalt 06-09. amongst others. dunno if i'll get in trouble running the vin.. ill have to check. hope I don't get in trouble for this..lol

lol...I like my job. seeing as I haven't seen anyone say go to a dealer and they will fix it for free or reimburse if you already had it done I don't want to step on any toes. all these posts shold be taken care of one way or another....right? that's all. gm is a corporate thing you know..they don't like you selling "warranty work"...... work at a dealer?
