steering column rattle/noise
I've had my cobalt for about a year and ever since i bought it, the steering wheel rattles and makes an extremely annoying noise when I break. No matter how fast im going, it always rattles when I break and the steering wheel also shakes. It is a very annoying noise and its loud, has anyone had this same problem? or does anyone know how i can fix it?

this happened to me, go get your rotors mechined, they are probly worped cause in mine, the rotors were warped so when I would hit the breaks it would shake the wheel and cause the intermetiate shaft to rattle, thats what the noise is... but after my new intermetet shaft and fixed rotors it drives great! no weird sounds. the rotors costed me like $60 to get fixed.... well worth it!

To the OP, get the steering shaft replaced if its still under warranty. The part is very expensive so if its not covered its most likely not worth replacing..... The vibration when braking is most likely being caused by warped rotors. My advice is, if you were wanting some pretty drilled and/or slotted rotors, now is the time. They can be machined back to normal but they will keep warping and your back to square one again....
