My Z31 300ZX build

kick ass. i love ecotec swaps. yes you will be shunned by the nissan community. i recently sold some old parts from my porsche, when the guy picked them up he was inquiring about the hood scoop, so i showed him whats under it. luckey he paid me for the parts first, i think he was ready to kill me. i dont think it helped when i offerd to race his 944 turbo s, and if i lost he could have the parts for free.
so is that a saab b207?

Nah just keeping it stock for now until I get everything the way I want. Then I'll look into a ZZP girdled block to build
Right now trying to figure out all the differences between colorado/canyon AR5's vs the solstice/sky AR5 but likely will be one of those 2

i hear ya. im already itching to build a girdled block for the 944. thinking of doing a 2.4l. im limited to what the transaxle can take, i could swap a corvette t56 trans and torque tube, but thats cutting the floor out of the car and redesigning the rear suspension.
as far as i know the gearing is different, and shifter placement is different. bellhousing is also different. i think your really better off finding a solstice unit.

Nah I'm good. The car is clean but I don't buy other people's projects. Been there done that and regretted every one. Besides RB is over rated anyways and weigh a lot.

I picked up the first piece of my swap other than the engine the other day. ATI damper for 230 bucks. Factory "blem", looks like the anodize is scratched. Not bad for half price. Looks like I will be picking up a set of inconel valves next week for $100 also.

So as you can see by my sig picture the power I was making was absolute hell on the stock suspension. However I think the stock suspension is the only thing that prevented my axle stubs from shearing off. It is said that once you start pulling sub 1.8 second 60's they start twisting. Well the car is now on coilovers so it doesn't squat like that anymore, which means way more load on the axles.
To remedy that I'm doing what the 240SX guys do. Put a Q45 differential and axles into it. The catch is though I have to put a 240SX rear suspension in it. It requires a little cutting and welding but I'll be going from the very crappy semi trailing arm suspension to a multilink suspension. So not only will it take power better, it is far superior setup all over. I managed to score a complete rear subframe for cheap, I already have the Q45 differential and axles waiting to go in.

I'm pretty sure the diff I have is 3.7. which is what my current diff is. There is a chance I'm mistaken and it's an early model diff that would have a 3.54 in it.

Gathering up parts slowly as I come across good deals. Got some shot peened and hardened oil pump gears because I love using launch control. Don't need to grenade my oil pump gears.

So this happened yesterday... Not sure the extent of the damage yet.
Tensioner decided to seize up and it sheared the stud off in the block. Only thing that held it in place was the timing cover. It jumped time. I don't know if it was enough to damage the valve train or pistons. Only 1K miles on the build...
