If it doesn't make the noise at idle then the only thing that move inside the supercharger under throttle that doesn't move at idle is the boost actuator. Does the sound possibly sound like the little bypass valve at the bottom of the supercharger flapping around?

I think you can have someone hold it closed while you boost. Not sure if it would build full boost in neutral though. It's that valve controlled by the black canister on the side of the supercharger with the vacuum hoses. Possible that it got over pressurized and wore the diaphram or whatever out.

If that part ends up being the problem then it's not an expensive fix. It's a separate part number and costs around $30. Since this noise is new, and is accompanied with the lack of boost, it is most likely related to your problem. And since the car worked fine before, just like everyone elses, you have to assume that something mechanical has failed. That stupid things diaphram probably just leaks now and won't hold consistent pressure to keep the bypass closed.

I could be way off, but it's VERY likely. I just have not heard it for myself.

Time...... Friday maybe? What's your work schedule like during the week?

I have been really busy man. Sorry about that. I've been moving my stuff over to the new house little by little, and playing in the band 3 nights a week, and dating. Have you figured anything out yet?

everywhere i turn there's a balt ss... there's a million of them here on post (amongst 2 million evo's and chargers)... but yeah... no one around here seems to know what a redline is, which is good for me, but no one ever wants to race for mulah... i think there's a drag strip right off of fort bliss, but w/ my clutch being as spongy as it is, i don't wanna burn it up anymore... btw, i'm stage2+ and should be hitting 17 to 18 lbs (which is what i was hitting in tennessee) but now i only hit ab 9 to 10lbs... the car doesn't seem to pull as hard either...u think it's bc the elevation?

oh yeah, my car is dropped over 2.5 inches and i bottom out everywhere. now i've got a HORRIBLE exhaust leak... does anyone know a good exhaust place to tighten up my bolts? i don't have access to a lift, and def. don't have any tools, or else i'd do it myself

Sure, don't show up when we all meet up there at the shop, because of some lame excuse of how your car is in the body shop. :-P

What? Rage915 and Invisible have that same problem. Any idea when yours start doing it? Wierd, because it has nothing to do with tuning, but here it is you are the third balt in 2 weeks to say that problem and it rarely happened before.

No. It's like some ticking time bomb in these cobalts that all the 06's were destined to have boost failure in summer of '08.

I never tuned him, but it looks to be a surfacing problem on a lot of balts this summer.

i was tuned in north carolina by mrphoto and scblkrl... i drive an 04 redline, not a balt... so at least i'm not the only one having these problems... i wanted to get the tune read and sent back to the rest of the DSLSJA boys, but w/o hptuners, i'm kinda screwed... when are you all meeting up next? i've been out of the LSJ world for a long freekin' time and am going thru withdraws over here!

It looks like Rage915 is having some issues with his car out here in the heat now that summer has come around. He had one instance of oil coming out of his dipstick, which usually means overboosting due to cat, piston rings, or boosting before completely warmed up. I don't know the exact details, because I have not seen it myself, but we talked about it over the weekend.

You guys have got to be careful now that summer is here. Remember those 200* runs on the dyno.....well add the summer heat to that and you get an idea of the carnage that those blowers can cause to your pistons.
