Texas Meet
Ok so we have tried in the past to put together some kind of meet and people have had to back out or people havent been able to make it out on the specified date. Lets try this again...
First things first, we need to determine a date. Preferably a date that a track is open or can be rented out. If not, no big deal. Everyone needs to post a couple of dates that would work for them.
Next, a location. Some good locations would obviously be large cities which are near a track: Dallas, Ennis, Lewisville, Houston, San Antonio, etc. The best track in this area is in Ennis. Its actually extremely nice and is 1/4 mile long. Everyone make some suggestions, maybe throw in some info about your local track as well. Later we can add a poll to this thread to vote on the location.
We could probably do the meet in a different city than the track and then cruise together over to the track, if the track has no place near by to meet. This will all depend on what track we choose.
Anyway, everyone post your dates of availability and your suggestions of a location. Dont suggest your home town just because you dont want to drive. Although the track here in North Texas(Ennis) is very nice, I know the ones down South are as well and I personally dont mind driving a few hours. I really hope this can work out this time, so everyone post away!!!

Hummm good question. I'm not too keen on the track idea myself but I will go and have fun wherever. Long drives would basically = me not going. Long drives are reserved for trying to visit the gf right now.
So North East texas would be my prefrence. I can free up most any weekend.
Heck I wouldn't mind doing close to oklahoma if we can get some okies to show.

im thinkin that renting it out might be a little pricey. we might not get enough people to split up the cost enough. if you suggest a location try to get some days and times of operation. maybe even some dates that would be best to show up there.

ALSO, Dallas guys, I have a car wash in my apartment complex, so if we do a meet we can all clean up our cars here for free before we head out. just food for thought...

im off fri/sat's. im up for whatever.
its hard to get the balt guys together. alot just want to race people so dont care much about meeting up or rolling out/caravaning somewhere together. the jbody guys are about the only ones that try to meet up here and there and can usually have a decent showing. there was suppose to be a big domestic meet last year in austin area that i went down fro the weekend. me and one other person are the only ones that showed when i drove the sunfire down there. here in the dfw area we can pull togther about 8-10ish j's for a meet/track event but its hard to get 5ish balts to meet up and theres 17ish on the phone roster.

Well Im out until I get the insurance company to buy me a new tire and wheel. Can't go far on a donut. Could always go in one of my other cars but then that defeats the purpose of a cobalt meet. Otherwise that 1/8 mile in Sanger isnt all that far from lewisville/carrollton/plano and basically N.Dallas. Ennis is nice but it can be a drive from either Ft. worth or N. Dallas. My only preference would be a friday night, saturday any time, sunday during the day. I have a family and a reg 9-5 job. Is this more a regional thing or state wide thing?

Fridays are out for me, Saturdays or Sundays are ok. I don't have a Cobalt SS/SC though..........

so far it looks like mostly north texas guys are responding. im sure we could get a nice north texas meet together pretty easily as long as everyone keeps the decided day open. of course i would like to include the other texas guys that wanna meet up.

My weekends really depend.. they're all open now but I don't know how fast they'll fill up. So the sooner we decide a date the sooner I'll be able to know not to work that day. I'm really not into the track thing either, so if we meet up and then cruise to the track I'll probably come for the meet part and opt out of the track part.

ok i have added a poll, everyone vote!!! also we can have a meet during the day for quite awhile and then later that night, everyone that wants to go to the track can all cruise together there. everyone that doesnt want to go can maybe just go to spectate, head back home, or go out for some fun in downtown dallas.

texas motorplex is the track in Ennis that we have been talking about. its the only 1/4 mile track in the dallas area. its south on I-35 and then you gotta go down 287. you can check out the website.

ok so it seems that dallas is getting an overwhelming vote. question now is, where in the dallas area? Plano, Lewisville, Carollton, Frisco, Denton, Ennis, Arlington? there are tracks in Ennis(1/4), Arlington(1/8), and Denton/Sanger(1/8).

i say ennis as well, there are plenty of food places right before you get to the track that have big parking lots so im sure we could meet up there and eat and stuff. maybe have a tailgate... or trunk, party! haha!

Did vaughn finally get his balt fixed? I'm voting Ennis myself. I haven't run a 1/4 mile track before, not saying I would necessarily. You need to schedule a whole day's worth of activities Evan, like a car wash in the AM, cruise around later in the day, etc etc..........
