Saw a victory red SS/TC with high rise yesterday on Hwy 72 turning into the Books-A-Million place. Is that anyone on here?

After:

sun kind of went away in the after pics, lol

oh and Josh I bet you don't have the tool for these brakes at your house, its NOT the typical one for Cobalts or most other GM cars with rear disc brakes... so unless it was ordered for the LNF Cobalt's rear brakes(not even the LSJ brembos), its not going to work... that is what I ran into... it also why when I got my brakes replaced under warranty, it took a couple of days to get it done... they had to wait for the tool to be sent to them.. you can order one thats made by KD Tools, part #41540 for around $40... or you can do like myself and break out the welder and ingenuity

a piece of 2" flat steel, 2 1/4" bolts, a 3/8" bolt, and a mig welder later... **** you GM, i'll get **** done anyway, lol... and to save you some time, center-to-center of the holes is 3/4" of an inch... and though a 1/4 bolt it is the right size, you're going to want to shave a little off to lock in place as the holes are not flat in the bottom.... ask me how I know, lol:

this is what fits MOST GM rear disc brakes:

and here is my creation:

what I did was take the flat iron, measure out my spacing on it, used a punch to mark... then used the punch to mark a hole in the middle of those two... then got the drill press out and made me the two 1/4" holes and a 3/8" hole in the center... put the two 1/4" bolts in the two outside holes and welded them to the steel... I had to do some grinding to be able to slide the 3/8" bolt in between them, I just want the head of it to have something to weld to... after I was happy with that, I found a piece of tubing I had from long ago that is basically just a long ass 9/16" inch nut... I cut some of it off and welded it to the piece, its what actually attaches to my socket... then after some final forming with the grinder, it worked like a charm... I didn't paint it until I got done using it just because I like things to look nice, lol

i'm a dangerous man with a welder, a grinder, and a can of black paint, would have been a pipefitter instead of an electrician, but i've always heard don't make your hobbies your profession, because you then you won't enjoy them anymore

i still bet it won't work... mine is a universal piece for "most domestic and import cars"... nope, didn't fit... it will work on my dad's GMC Sierra, etc...

the one you have may fit, but its different than the one used on most GM models, I will say that

how did the track day turn out???

They look good

Keep that brake tool you made handy, I'm sure others of us in Bama are gonna need to do some rotor brake pads swap sooner or later.

Or do what I do , pair of needle nose pliers and a little muscle gets the job done.

Thanks Josh for helping me with the tune and getting that dyno set up I gotta email him to get my graphs sent since you talked to him and let them shut everything down :P.

Also I'll get you a video of some pulls so you can see what I sent you a text about just been busy with school work today and rain is moving in so I haven't been out and about.

Once again it was nice meeting you and your buddy.

no they don't, lol.. I have the tool that Autozone, O'Riley, etc. stocks.... it fits 90% of the GM cars on the market, as well as most Fords, Nissan's etc.. in fact I have it in the pictures above, and guess what, its a 6 sided cube but neither side will work on the Brembos on the LNF Cobalt, it'll fit a LSJs brakes, already been discussed, not a LNF Cobalt

trust me if it was as simple as putting it on a 3/8" drive and turning the brake piston, I wouldn't have spent an hour fabbing that up and would have used the Universal Brake Piston tool... but an hour worth of creativity sounded a lot better than waiting 3-5 days for shipping and paying $40

***edit***

oh and the Hawk HPS pads kick ass, i'm usually not one to put much stock in handling, braking, etc. as that is just not my thing but they are a HUGE upgrade from the stock Brembo pads... I highly recommend them... very quite and from what has been said a HUGE reduction in brake dust over the Brembos as well, which is what i'm hoping for, i'm tired of battling brake dust... I mean I know some is to be expected but the stock brakes are absolutely terrible... Brembos are notorious for it, one of my good friends has a GT500 and he complains about the same **** with his Brembos...
