they're out there, and it has a LS series v8, so even if its been ragged on... you got a solid engine backing it...

the transmission is a pit fighter as well, the downfall of the GTOs is the early use of an Independent Rear by GM, it sucked on those cars, but nothing $700 worth of mods can't make drag strip proof...

trust me, I was a v8 guy with a Cobalt, lol

honestly, i'll probably go to a car forum to buy one... because while a lot of people think "oh you are buying a car that has been ragged on"... well, that may be true, however, you run that risk buying ANY used performance car... but MOST people that are on car forums, are into cars... their car is usually a big part of who they are... they are more likely to service them on time, more likely to actually care about it... sometimes you are BETTER off buying off a forum, and of course, its easier to find exactly what you are looking for... I have another car, i'm in no rush... I want a 6-speed LS2 GTO... i'm going to get one..... if they total the Cobalt of course

a good friend of mine just bought a good looking yellow '04 GTO that is a 6-speed, he only paid $14,500 for it, i just dont want a LS1 GTO when a LS2 can be had for a couple more thousand and it has a more powerful engine, a better looking hood, and the exhaust outlets on both sides of the car instead of duals on one side...

^ 2004

^ 2005-2006

IMO just the exhaust and rear fascia do wonders for the look of the back end, now I'm not too big on silver, I want black, blue, or orange... but I would entertain any color to be honest if it was a good deal, even silver

I personally don't like how GTO's look, I think they look bland. I would buy a G8 GT or WS6 if it were me, but its not, so good luck man on finding the exact one you want.

they look bland with stock wheels, etc... mine won't have that long

a Ws6 is a terrible buy right now.... because if you find one in decent shape, they are $13-15,000.... that is great, now find a bank that will loan that on one... the loan value even on one with around 60,000 miles is around $7900........ no one is going to sell one for that, the ones you see for that price have 100k+ on them and the loan value is less than $5000

I'd rather have a GTO than a G8

I hear ya man, I just prefer the Euro styling and build qulatiy of the G8 GT, plus its 4 doors, just personal preference.

oh, if I had a family i'd have one in a heart beat... but I look at it like this, I have to throw a tune at the G8 to get it on par with a stock LS2... throwing a tune at a LS2 and with that alone you are well into the 12s...

people have gotten the GTOs in the 11s with bolt-ons, a tune, and DRs... that is why I was never that shocked when Ford did it with a new 5.0... GM had did it LONG ago with a LS1, the Ls2s had did it, etc...

the visual mods will probably come 1st, new wheels, lowering springs, tint, and the wheel-hop kit(which is performance oriented)

then the exhaust mods... with this car, screw a catalytic converter... I want it to be loud, I want it to be obnoxious, I want when I crank my car up, my neighbors think the world is coming to an end

I really want a manual, but i'd entertain an auto if the price was right... I like drag racing anyway and an automatic with a stall and DRs>a manual on DRs

YouTube - ‪Mac's 11.98 run at HRP‬‏

that is why I have started leaning toward an auto... my brother's stalled Trans Am comes off the line like no other... its like a damn AWD car...

that was done with bolt-ons, a stall, a tune, and DRs

No offense but a little bit of difference between an auto with 350+ Ft-lbs and 400hp that is rwd and an auto civic. I plan on buildinng this car decently annd contrary to popular belief, automatics rule the drag strip, you wont outshift a built one and good luck tryin to outlaunch a stalled one.

My bbrother gained half a second with a stall....same power mods, just flat out the car was that much faster, on the same tires to boot

I know this.....civic isn't auto though.....I'm saying from a enjoyability stance manual> auto....i know what a built auto will do...

No doubt a manual is more fun to drive, and I mean I would still gladly buy one, in fact id probably prefer one, but at the same time if I find a deal on an auto, which there are more of and much easier to find low mileage because of that, I wont pass on it... I have found over 5 autos within 300 miles with less than 60K for around 16,000. I've only found 5 manuals in the same disance, they're either 75K+ or about $20,000. Considering for what I want the car to be and that id be more suited with an auto, id kind of be crazy not to.

Josh this guys needs a tune... he inquired with me about one and i told him Trifecta is the way to go... Josh can hook you up with one and Vince knows his ****

and Josh as far as your accident report, have you checked here;

https://www.alabamainteractive.org/d...welcome.action

I've been checking it every evening when I get home and up until today it just had the two previous one(also not my fault) but the one for the Cobalt was added today...

oh yeah and guy has ZERO insurance, nadda... of course, I have uninsured motorist on my policy so it'll effect me none... but he's about to get a big ass lawsuit from Alfa insurance, lol

i'd say the chances of my car getting totaled went from "probably" to "almost certain"... because they are going to go after every cent they can get using their adjustor, and he'll be footing the bill

I laughed because he got wrote a ticket for no proof on insurance that day... that must of happened in the ER when he was giving his information to the police... you know after he came up cussing me, had to be calmed down by the firemen, then couldn't walk once the Ambulance arrived.... yeah, some time after that... **** him and his money pursuing ass, hate to be like this but after he cusses me on the scene, calls my house at 10:30 that night, and calls my PARENT'S house a couple days later asking if I was ready to "change my story"... yeah, **** him... he called my dad basically telling them that I was lying and that they should tell me to change my story for fear of going to jail..... my dad told him that if he ever called his house again, the last thing he'd be worried about is his son going to jail, lol(and not exaggerating, my dad is about 6' 3, 245, he is a big guy, I wouldn't want to fight him, lol)... so with that being said, I hope his next move is to a cardboard box

I probably would have punched him in the mouth, jail or no jail, if some jackass pulled out in front of me, smashed my car up and then started talking ****.

yeah... I couldn't feel my hand after the wreck, lol...

talking to him on the phone, I told him, since he was feeling so full of life on the phone, look my house up on Google Maps, i'd be at home... "I'd Punch an Old Man in Public"

either way, at least my insurance won't go out the roof...

and Paul I saw that HHR SS today, what is that road you used to live on(I go by your old house every day on my way home for work, its a short cut to avoid traffic on 72 in the evening, which I DIDN'T take the day of the wreck, lol)? if you follow it out on toward Huntsville past that roundabout, he lives a couple miles past it on the left(if you're going toward Huntsville)... its black, stock wheels, no tint, etc... probably an older person who owns it if I had to guess
