oh yeah I raced a Ls1 Trans Am earlier in the day coming back home from my brothers, the 1st run he jumped me on the start(he was behind me and got a "run) as I heard him go WOT I went and stopped his pull, though he had at least a car head start... 2nd run we went from about 45 and I jumped a car on him and seriously had about 2 when he backed out...
there was shock... he rolled up beside me saying something about not being able to go from a roll because of his rev limiter?(the **** if I know what he was talking about)... I asked him to go from a stop though but cop the "cop factor" cop out
but lets get back to the topic on hand:

NO LS1 cuts off at 118mph, in fact they DO NOT cut off... at any mph, the automatics will run about 165mph, the six-speeds close to 170mph and that is bone stock... they are just live Corvettes in that regard(and us for example, we don't have a cut off mph, can do 150+ bone stock)... and we never broke 105(if that)

i promise you 08 my buddies camaro ss shut off at 118...his maybe a fluke but it shut off hehe...he found out the hard way while racing a buddy right after he got it that for some reason it shut off...

mine isn't stock now(not even on the stock gears) but when it was, it would over 118mph, in fact, here is a video of it when it was stock:

its, a LITTLE faster now though, lol

and its faster than that now, it put down 470whp/475ft.-lbs a couple of months ago... I never mention it here... to avoid the fighting... the great news is the transmission started slipping about a week ago, I can't complain, its on the stock 4l60e, that thing was "supposed: to grenade long ago, lol.... still on the stock 10-bolt as well... have a stall and DRs to boot... I never drive it much anymore, it stays at my dad's house... I've probably put 1500 miles on it in the last 2 years, seriously....

any time someone comes up with a ridiculous story about how their bolt-on GT walked a heavily modded LS1 f-body and you call b.s.: you are a LS1 fan boy
so I just stick with the Cobalt here, its for the better

lol...a bolt on gt couldnt even walk a buddies 06 monte carloss with a tune and exhaust work lol. the gt lost 3 out of 4 races lol even one from a dead stop
gt was a 04 with intake,headers,exhaust,gears, ported/polished heads...so how would a bolt on gt even keep up with a rwd lsX when it has problems keeping up with a fwd lsX lol

the same way a 280whp 3500lb 5-speed GT can "outrun" a 300whp 3400lb 6-speed
things don't have to make sense in Mustang land.... the same reason they will pull up with a SUPERCHARGED cobra with its 4 cams and a 2.8" upper pulley, X-pipe, KB throttle body, etc., etc., etc. and then complain when you mention your "outdated, stone age" single cam pushrod has a little spray
****update merged post****
finally took the Cobalt to the track tonight, we only have the 1/8th mile here though
the 1st run, I did bad, lol... had never had the car on the track and had no clue where to try to launch it at, how aggressive to be with the clutch, etc... ran like a 9.31, which still isn't SLOW, but I could have ran faster stock, lol.... the 2nd run, I did better pulled a 8.83 and knew it had more left in it... my brother thought I'd run 8.8s when we got there, as in that being my fastest time... my 3rd run, I finally got my launch down, pulled a 2.20(almost 2.1, lol) 60', did by far the best on my 1-2 shift and ran a 8.564 @ 87.2 mph.... I knew it was going to be a good run when I took off, I was then hoping I wouldn't **** up and somehow miss 3rd, lol... I was happy though, i had guess 8.6-8.7s just because of my tires being so bad(and still being the stock ones).... the final run I ran a 8.6, then it started sprinkling and we left... I was happy though, went faster than I thought I would, that is always nice
comparing my 1/8th to what "others" are getting on here in the drag section with LNFs, I should be in the 12s with that run, not bad for the crappy street tires, with some stickier rubber 12s definitely wouldn't be a problem
