I've still got to get off my lazy butt and install the 2.0 4G63 DOHC turbo cylinder head on to my turbo van. I'm doing a custom installed distributor on the cylinder head in place of the CAS. I already have had the head rebuilt with stronger springs, ss valves and bronze guides and have Delta turbo camshafts to go into the head.
The distributor was custom machined about 3 months ago to fit the head, I'm such a slacker,
Since we moved the only place not straightened up is my garage workshop.

If things go as planned, I still plan on a BBQ at my house some time next year

My thinking is this, BNR stage 1 with the new ZZP LNF camshafts being released this spring. ZZP has said its a bolt in 20 whp (already tested on there car) and will have competetive pricing as all the rest of there stuff is.

Also the camshaft swap is about a 2 hr job, so you could do the turbo now and the camshaft later.

So figure 350+ whp for the BNR stage 1 turbo plus 20 whp for ZZP camshafts and your retune. If you wanted even more power, you could probably even do Trifecta + HPT tune.

My problem with the BNR stage 2 is how far up is full boost moved in the power band? I personally don't want a 4k + rpm full boost, thats not very fun on the street.

I'm going to go with the BNR stage 1 + ZZP camsahfts.

and the ported head from ZZP, there is another 20whp

but the cams are going to be over a grand, why? there are 4 of them

even at $250 a piece(cheap) you're looking at a grand... if they are $300(probably), that is $1200... for a 4v Cobra for example, cams + valvesprings is a $1500-1600 job

same trooper, same highway, same day of the week, different spot, same infraction

when he walked up to my car, I already have my registration, etc. out and told him "you don't need that meter, you and i both know how dark they are, and btw, i'm just going to pay the ticket... I work construction, usually have at least a grand worth of tools in my car, leave my car sitting about 12 hours a day in a parking lot, have had **** stolen out of my last car and don't want to go through that again. It cost $158 for the ticket, or $100 to get the tint removed, but my tools are much more valuable...."

he then said "i'll be back in a minute" and went to his car... when he returned we had another long discussion(seriously about 10 minutes) as to why tint is illegal... and my defense was, why can trucks and SUVs have it? I even said "Sir, you're an officer and i've always wanted the opinion of a trooper on this, you're on I-65 its 3 a.m. in the morning and you pull over a SUV on some 26" wheels, inside is 4 occupants with blacked out windows.... are you more scared in that situation or of a 2-door car with tinted windows? Because according to our state laws, only one of those is a legal situation"....

he then said "well its like drinking and driving, if you are over the limit, you're going to jail... if you have too dark of windows, you are getting a ticket"... so I said "but your example is not a good one, because to apply the same it would need to be, if you are in a SUV drunk, you don't go to jail, but if you are in a 2-door sports car drunk, you do"...

he really didn't expect that one, lol....

anyway he closes with "well i'm not one to harass anybody, so just get it removed, because i'm going to keep stopping you"

well, I guess we'll have this argument once a month, lol

but he didn't give me a ticket(again)

Haha...cops around here are chill on tint for the most part...got stopped in my tc at a block got the meter out I said...15% and tell me how much it is..he said not to worry about it this time it makes the car look better...LOL...but he made me stay for 15minutes because his shift was almost over...considering a ticket was other option I cut car off and chilled...he was cool...besides 2 times I have had good experiences with cops...

so a couple of months ago I bought this ATV:

and at the time, I figured I'd end up just tuning it up, replacing some pieces, and flipping it.... but after completing it:

I think i'll keep it instead, turned out great and total invested: Original $1500 + $563... so $2063, and it runs like a champ... and you can't see it in the original pic but the opposite side had SEVERAL pieces of busted plastic... it had been rolled onto that side

i'll use that one to hunt, still have the Rubicon for Leisure riding:

that box on the back....it'll hold a lot of beer, lol

oh yeah, any final word on a dyno day?

oh yeah, LNF guys.... if you're tuned... you might want to buy a O2 sensor for reserve... mine near the turbo has took a ****... my car sounds like garbage until the water temp gets to about 90 degrees..... should have replaced it LONG AGO(at 30,000 miles been tuned since about 10,000 miles)... my car is acting EXACTLY like BYT and all the other people who had theirs go bad... clears up once its gets to 90 degrees.... sounds like a Subaru boxer until then, lol

Hey got a question for you guys. I posted this in the service forum but not getting any replies. I have 4 codes and my balt is running like complete ****. I have been trying to figure out what it is without spending a whole hell of a lot of money. These are the codes, P2135, P1133, P0300 and P0171. I know that some times one code can set off a few more. Just trying to figure out if anyone else has had this and what the hell I can do. I don't have a warranty on the car so taking it to the dealership is out of the question. I've heard the the P2135 code could possibly be the one code causing all this. I have track all the vac lines and haven't found any leaks. Any ideas on what to do?

The p300 is a misfire. I don't have time right now but if u go to google type 1 code in at a time you will find them like ex chevy cobalt 2006 sc p0300

The post the codes I'll tell u what to do. I used to be a gm tech

I know what each code is. Just didn't know how to go about fixing them. Here is the list:
P0300-Random cylinder misfire
P2135-throttle/pedal position sensor/switch "a"/"b" voltage correlation
P1133-heated o2 sensor bank 1 sensor 1 insufficient switching
P0171- Fuel trim bank one condition

the 1st one could be a number of things, a bad plug, a bad coil, or just the change in environment(i'd got with the last one)... if you clear it and it doesn't come back, just chalk it up as the environment... I got a misfire the other day, I also got to get Vince to update my tune for the CAI some more, because my car is idling like pure garbage, I THOUGHT it was the o2 sensor up top by the turbo going bad, but with the 70 degree weather this week, the car is back idling fine on cold starts at that temp, but anything below 60 and it sounds like its going to go dead any second up until the water temps get to 90 degrees... if not, the CAI is coming off for the winter, because I know its the culprit

I do not know about the 2nd DTC

I would bet the last 2 are exhaust related with the o2 sensor....

didn't you just buy the car? if so, i'd throw a new set of plugs in any way, it takes a matter of minutes on these cars, is cheap and you'll KNOW the proper plug, gap, etc. is in the car... being you bought the car modded and it seems the person who built it knew what they were doing, they're probably running the correct plug, but you never know and i've seen nicely built cars have severe problems off of $40 worth of plugs, lol

P2135 Throttle Position (TP) Sensor
P1133:insufficient switching on the primary o2 sensor
P0300: random misfire
P0171 -- System too lean

check the throttle body replace 02 or get tuned to cut them off.... check your plugs and 1 other thing it could be is althou its 2.2

Subject: Check Engine Light On, DTCs P0171, P0300, P1174 Set (Perform Injector Test/Replace Injectors and Reprogram ECM, if Necessary) #08-06-04-001 - (01/02/2008)

2007 Pontiac G5, G6

2006-2007 Saturn ION

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Condition
Some customers may comment on the check engine light being illuminated.

A scan tool may reveal DTC P0171, P0300 or P1174 set as current or in history.

Cause
This condition may be caused by the plugging of one or more of the injector director plate orifices which results in a lean condition.

Correction
Important: This condition cannot be corrected by cleaning the injector(s).

Perform an injector balance test using the Active Fuel Injector Tester (AFIT), CH-47976. Refer to the Fuel Injector Diagnosis (w/CH47976) procedure in SI. If any injector is identified as having a lean condition, replace all four injectors with the revised injectors. After installing the new injectors, reprogram the ECM with updated calibration files using the TIS2WEB Service Programming System (SPS) application. There are two calibration part numbers that are valid for "Engine Operation". Select the part number with the description that reads for vehicles with second design injector. The injector has a dark blue overmold color for this repair.

Important: The fuel injectors must be replaced and the new calibration files must be installed to ensure a complete repair. Failure to perform both repairs will result in the customer returning with the same condition.

If a vehicle returns with the same condition after having this repair performed, the technician should first verify that the complete repair was performed before continuing with SI diagnostics.

I had planned on changing the plugs anyways. Only problem I have with that right now is the plate over the coil packs I can't get off due to the screws being so damn tight. I tried to get one off and first broke a bit then a buddy of mine tried and ended up striping the head of the screw. So someone put them on way too tight. All I know is the car is spit and spuddering real bad and if I give it a little gas the CEL starts blinking. If I get on it and over 3500 RPMs it goes away and runs fine till I **** and the RPMs drop back down. Sounds like a misfire pretty much. I just know there is so much that can cause a misfire with newer cars. I know the guy that owned it before me ran 89 octane in the car. I read you should put only 91 or above in it. Not sure if that could've done anything really but just figured I'd throw that in there.

No header. I don't have any bolt-ons. I think the pulley is stock as well. It is stamped with 77.9 mm I think. Only thing I have is the Cry02 system which I have only used once. So as far as I know it's completely stock.

If worse comes to worse, I have to go to my grandma's tomorrow in Elkmont for Thanksgiving. I'll get video of me driving and the sounds it's making. Plus it shakes pretty hard sitting still. That might help a little better. And I'll get pics of the s/c pulley and so forth. See what on here is stock if not all of it.
