I built that car for the sebring long course when I lived in florida. And it had a V8Roadsters LS6 swap w/ a CTS-V Tranny. Im just calling things how I see them, and I have a friend in a nearly stock yaris that would rape your friends S2K around a track with his pathetic lil 4cyl. (Hes also one of the best drivers I know and has dont the 1 lap of America every year for the past 5 years.) He now sports a Z4 though. I do 1/4 mile now mainly because that is all I have time for. Owning your own business and being a stay at home dad, leaves little time to dial my car in for every track event. I dont even have time for AutoX anymore.... If you knew me you would know that every car I have I do something different with. Whether its a 2871 powered 2 door LNF, or just making my 4 door run 12's with just a tune and E85 here @ 3200 ft of elevation. Ive had 2 miatas and blew one up and bought the 2nd one blown up so I could shoehorn an LS6 in there.

The VW was just to be a fast commuter, I am sure if I took it to a road course I would surprise a lot of people. (Stock suspension is pretty good on an MK6) Just dont have the time or money for it anymore. I go to Inde all the time, but its because I am paid by the Porsche club and the local stock car group. I dont drive my car around the track when I can drive a friends stock car when I want. I dont even know what we are arguing about right now, but it just seems like you are trying to insult my intelligence and say you will pwn3d any fwd car on the track. And I may be coming off as an *******... because well I am one. Ask anybody.
I'd do a Z06 with r-compounds, maybe a swaybar up front to control the oversteer.

I actually would agree with you with the yaris, seen Fits put up a damn good fight(more at Autox) at the track as well. Ah, the V8 miata guy... and I wouldn't doubt your friend isn't a good driver I'm sure he is, I guess we all have buddies that are "A good driver". I sure as hell also don't know what we are really arguing about either. I mean the one lashing out was you as soon as someone mention something about a VW. Whatever stage you are in your life, what ever you gotta do or drive to make things work in your life/home, do what you gotta do. I never got "*******" out of any of your responses so you just crowned yourself. Either way, just keep shooting pics for us to checkout and what not.

Insult your intelligence? Drew really? Please calm the **** down.

Yes, I would bet I could take you at the track and probably 80% of the peeps on here. Been going to the track since I was a kid with my Dad. We built a RX7 turbo together that we used for track only. Thanks to him I'm the driver I am today and 1 of many instructors at Porsche club here locally and at Extremespeed for track events all over the state. Funny I get to drive cars like yourself too. hmmm more alike then we thought.

Anyways, goodnight Drew sorry if I hurt your feelings. Your a great photographer and for that you need a creative mind. I'm sure your a great guy. Later

Someone say Z06? Lol

Drew when i had my cobalt i ended up with the same setup as you (your coupe) and i got everything i wanted done under warranty. Its all about where you take it. No dealer will turn down warranty work as most get paid to do the warranty work. I like your gti alot im sure its a nice car to drive. However you must admit that the SS/TC in stock or lightly modded form will better suite most people who's looking for cheap speed. All cars have pros and cons so to argue what car is better is a never ending argument.

Btw i finally lowered my car last night ill post pics later today after i wash it

So question for Steve, Chris, Jerry and anyone else whom is SC on their L61. Richie and myself are tearing the car down today and for the intake manifold gasket. Did you cut a tiny square in where the PCV is on the block? We realized it was blocked after we took it apart today.

Yeah an SS/tc is much cheaper for just cheap speed. Especially used because of the horrific depreciation... only thing I am saying is that a GTI will hold its resale value much better.

So we are cutting a square in the IM gasket for the PCV in the middle, how about the one to the left in the picture?

PS: Thanks for the quick replies Steve and Jerry

Not car-related, but found a lost dog today...no tags, no chip, nothing on CL, and no signs in my area. Anyone want to give this old guy a new home?

In an older version of the GM build book it only says to trim that one location...

i am actually getting a new gasket to block that slot. if the "pcv" valve in your mani goes bad, it will let you pressurize the crankcase during boost....ask me how i know.

i am blocking that slot, and adding a vented filter oil cap (already done) to the VC. and then ill be adding a non vented catch can into the line on the nipple of the valve cover....basically ill be running my system in reverse, but it will still function 100%.

Only make a "passage" to the middle port.I didn't at 1st and the car had a terrible idle. Now that Ifixed my boost leaks it got better. Then after I cut the slot in the IM gasket,Idle is great.Still searches(trifecta) but no more misfires.
