California Speedway (Fontana) street legal racing: Jan 10th (Sat)
Just checking to see if anyone else will be heading out to the track this upcoming weekend. I missed the last events in December since I was still overseas but will be there this Saturday in the Cobalt. They've got NASCAR racing most of next month so the next street legal event won't be until March if you miss this one.
I'm going to try to get there early and recommend the same for anyone else wanting to race. It will probably be busy so don't expect more than a few runs. For those who haven't raced or been there before the links to the Auto Club Speedway are listed below. It costs $20 to race and $10 to watch. Make sure you have long pants, closed toe shoes, a shirt with sleeves and your registration and insurance. Those are the biggest things you'll get hit for if you want to race. If you plan to dip into the 13's also bring a helmet. I usually have my camera and will try to take pics of everyone that makes it out to race and if anyone wants maybe we can set up something like a BBQ in the pits.

You have too many cars listed in your signature man! Jk.
Hey, my group will be out in force. Look for us with our pop up and club banner flying. We will be there when it opens, so if you show up later, swing by and say hi.
I have a nasty leak in my flex pipe coming off the exhaust manifold that Im hoping to get fixed. If not, Im running my wifes new G6 with the 2.4 Ecotec, lol. Either way, Im heading out.
Ill post this up on my board too and see if we can rally some last minute cars. Looks to be a fun day!!

I have too many cars in my driveway, my garage, my offsite storage... I'm going to try to show up early but I'll keep an eye out and stop by if I see you guys. I can't remember for certain but think I may have met some of your club members last summer at one of the track days.

so many things to do this month...i have to make it to at least one...im going to get me a saab tomorrow...so ill try to make it to one of the 3 meets that are going on this month...if possible 2 meets

Which Saab are you getting and new or used? I was looking at the new 9-3 Turbo X when they first hit SoCal but at the time they weren't dealing on them. I'm guessing about $10k off might be possible now and they've got some great deals on the remaining '08 models.

im getting a 2006 93 2.0T used of course...with 35k miles trading in the aveo...getting some negative equity but its worth it

The resale value on the Saabs hasn't been that great so you take a giant depreciation hit buying new, but that can be a good thing when you go to buy a used one. They added the 5/100k powertrain for '07 but that '06 should still be covered for a while under the Saab 4/50k bumper-to-bumper depending on the original in-service date. You've probably already done your research but they're a fairly reliable cars. About the biggest thing those years got hit on was the infotainment/navigation system and HVAC controls. There were a few issues with electrical gremlins (Saab used a proprietary odd fiber optic bus for inter car communication of those systems) as well as some trim wear problems but the 9-3 is overall pretty solid.

Good stuff fellas. We have a caravan or two here and there. I'll post up solid details later this week.
Saab? Cool. Since there is a GM connection, we actually have them listed in our GM Eternal "Plate logo". But I never see any one in the area drving em, let alone fixing em up. It would be nice to see some of those around.
"Saab - by GM.....Surprised?" Heheh.
I think we know which meet you need to make buster....

The forecast is still looking good and it's now warmed up to mid-70s. Should be a great day as far as weather is concerned.

Too funny. Yesterday they called for Santa Ana winds at 30+ mph. That concerned a few of our resident track officials because they'll close it down to 1/8 mile or close it completely. Now they say Sat calls for winds around 18 mph. Geez. Cant predict the weather I guess...
Game on! Hope to see you guys out. Dont be shy. Swing by and say hi or meet up with us and kick it.
