I have 2 good friends of mine since elementary school, who run lightly modded SRT-4's. I'm 100% stock and I pull on them hard 1st & 2nd (from a dig & roll) but once 3rd gear comes around they walk me.
I believe they have CAI, Stage 1/2 ECU, different turbo, exhaust, eh **** I can't remember, Injectors? Either way, modded vs. a lightly modded SRT-4 You should take him or have it be a close race. That's my experience I hope it helps. Drive err.. Race safe.

GLI's weigh 3300lbs. You should take him no matter what. Unless you totally suck at driving and he is good or has the DSG Trans.
Stock they put out 200hp/207tq.
APR offers a few upgrades for them, and the most that they seem to put out on stock turbo is around 280hp/325tq.
With a turbo swap, the possibilities are endless. And it'd be really hard for you to know if he swapped turbos... especially if he swapped to a European Audi S3 / VW Edition 30 GTI turbo. Then you are looking at 320hp/320tq (assuming he's using the shitty 91oct that you bozo's out in Cali have - 100oct or higher? Add 30hp/50tq)... and it will appear to be stock.
The 1.8T was put in the junk pile back in like 2004. Since then have come with a 2.0T.

I'd be suspicious of the GLI. U said he was scared but then wants to bet 200 bucks. He's done something w his car, no doubt. Idk about the srt4. Just make sure u know what they have done to their cars.

It is nice. Quick too! Needs A LOT of work. When I bought it, it had been sitting in a garage for 5 years already, because the guy lost his license. I love my VeeDub's though. Such fun cars. Old School is the way to go though. You should ditch the MK4 for a MK1 or MK2. I saw a sick ass MK1 Rabbit today. Race prepared. I want it so bad.

Then they suck at driving... Plain and Simple. Stock vs Stock, the SRT-4 walks the Cobalt with ease (unless you have an LNF). Modded? No contest, SRT-4 wins.

sweet cool deal. this is pretty much my beater./ it has 140XXX miles. if the K03 goes out ill upgrade to K04. but thats it.
i think the cat is going out(loud rattles at startup, idle and low rpms. but goes away after) and i have an electrical problem. left running light keeps blowing fuses

Also, MK4's = Kings of Electrical Problems.
When I destroyed my MK3 Jetta Beater... it was constantly blowing Rear Light Fuses. I couldn't figure it out... that's why I took it off-roading. I paid $300 for it, so I didn't really care. Especially after I sold it as a parts car for $300. WIN!
I dunno where to even start with your problem though. Checking your grounds would probably be the best place to start... but I honestly don't know. Check the back of the plug on the light... see if one of the wires is perhaps starting to come out.

i doubt they have any upgraded turboes..like i said..these kids are like 18-19..i doubt they have any serious mods done to their cars other than maybe basic bolt ons.
but we shall see..im down to race both of them and see what happens..
