I'm not saying that everyone is equally as smart Red. I'm saying it is impossible to prove (in a measurable unit) that one person is "smarter" than another.

 

i personally do not believe that anything is impossible, i doubt things but i never rule out that its possible for it to happen.

so if iq is bullshit then what makes grades so important if we all have the same cognitive abilities and none of us are smart then others?

 

Grades are bullshit too. It's just another thing we have to go with to fit in with society and it's demands.

You can prove that 4 is more than 2. You can prove that ice is colder (in temperature) than coffee. You cannot PROVE that someone is smarter than someone else. No matter how much you may think it is the case.

This is simply caused by a chain reaction. One person decided one day that an IQ test score determines someones level of intelligence.. And passed on the bullshit assumption.. And more and more people just accepted it without contradicting the idea. Which is why IQ tests.. along with other things.... Are bullshit in our society.

IQ tests were made by scientists and psychologist...they didnt just pop out of no where.

 

People are smarter than other, but there is no way to accurately measure it. and because smartness is broken down into many different categories, there is no real way to say someone is smarter that everyone else in every way. People don't have the same abilities, but everyone has abilities in which they are stronger in, than they're other abilities. But, you can't say that someone is smarter because of just one field, one may be better in math than the other, but worse in say writing skills. And for that there isn't a set rate in which each skill is measured as a percentage of your total "abilities". There is truely no way of measuring it. It doesnt matter which way you look at it, you cant prove one person is smarter than the other, just like you cant prove the past. You can know something happened in the past, but it can never be proven, just like you can know someone is smarter then someone else. Kind of a bad example, but illustrates my point i guess.

 

Let me repeat myself... one person may be smarter than someone else. But you CANNOT PROVE that someone in fact is smarter than someone else..

Go ahead Red.. Try it.. Prove to me 100% that someone is "smarter" than someone else.




And just because psychologists and scientists came up with an IQ test means it's right and we should all accept the assumption that it measures your level of intellect? Hm.. You can go ahead and fall into that trap and get brainwashed like the rest of society.. But not me

 

I believe that being brain dead may be the only exception, because they dont have any skills, and no skills<skills. but there is no way to measure the amount of skils past zero, because once a person is functioning ie not brain dead, the amount of skills becomes close to, if not infinite. Only if a person is 100% non functional in their thought processes, can you actually prove they are dumber that someone else, but that is just my opinion.

because how are u gonna prove that the brain dead person is not as smart as you? because that persons brain doesnt function....same as me comparing you to my brother peter or someone who has brain damage, they may be able to function and have abilities but they are not as good as yours or mine. have u seen the videos of 3 year old kids solving rubix cubes in a couple of minutes? look it up...heres a child who doesnt know math but yet has figured out the formula to solve the cube, so u can tell me that the 3 year old who can solve a cube is not smarter then another 3 yr old who cant?

You can know logically, in your mind that one person is smarter than another, the only problem is you cannot mathematically prove that they are, there is just no possible way. Just like how i compared it to the past.

No, i said the only way you can say someone is smarter/dumber, and be able to prove it is if one person you are comparing is brain dead, exactly like you said in the post after. Other that that you cannot prove it mathematically.

 

uhhh jason things can be proven that happend in the past...its called historical documentation....theres also lots of other scientifically ways to prove that things happened in the past.

 

not 100% accurate, you can have an idea of what happened in the past, but you can never know exactly what happened. it is literally impossible without actually going back to that time period....

 

there are theories in which we follow to measure intelligence, the wechsler scales and the stanford-bient being the 2 most common ones still used today...although its a theory it is accepted amongst the scientific community as fact until proven wrong. thats y einstiens theory of relativity is still a theory because although we accept it as fact we still have doubt its correct but it must be proven to be wrong first.
