While not the absolute best, it actually has very good thermal conductivity properties. That means it can radiate as well as absorb heat fairly well, depending on the application.
If you were trying to building something that you wanted to be able to transfer heat (such as a radiator) copper or silver would be better, but are generally much more expensive. If you wanted to build a heat shield or have a metal that wouldn't absorb as much heat from another source something like one of the stainless steel alloys would be better.
