Basically everything I'd want to do to my other one has been done to this car. Should be pretty fun. It's already dyno'd much higher than both my SS and SRT-4.
yea i bet cuz the ST in Europe is the 2.5 turbo, they should of based the ST off the RS & SVT for the American market. thats true they skipped on alot for the 05 st zx4 like 5 speed over the svt 6 speed, my two buddies got the high rise wing for it and it looks pretty dope
i also want to see a quick ass svt

I was able to dig up a few of the really old vids of the car. This first one was right after the first owner picked up the car. I still remember it for some comments about his girlfriend in the front seat, bashing against the rev limiter and not hitting the gears and all. The power numbers were on an initial (poor) tune and some additional modifications ended up going on the car.

Back when the SVT first came out a bunch of the SoCal Focus owners used to hit up the tracks a lot. These are some of the cars going more than a the straight line.

And here's one being filmed from my car and keeping up with an Evo. It would still pull a little int he straights but on a tight track AWD really isn't automatically the best. Oh, and by the way, this was when the car was still naturally aspirated...

A different SVT (modified but still N/A) chasing down a few higher end cars on the track.

This one is a highway run in an SVT with the same Vortech kit that's on my car.

For the drag racers, here's the C-F-M ZX3 with the base Zetec running a Vortech kit and doing a 12-second run. I think they got it down to mid-12's on that car.

And just a couple other random ones that showed up while searching.

There's also a built ZX3 over in Vegas years ago that used to be an HKS car and it's run 10's numerous times. Not sure what ever happened to it or if it's still in the region.

Correct. You may want one but definitely don't need one. Alky injection works great for some cars like the LSJ, but look at what it does for you. The main purpose is for extra fueling and/or to help cool the charge temps to reduce the chance of knocking/detonation. Unless you go completely wild and throw a massive turbo on the car the stock direct injection system is more than capable of meeting the demands of a stock turbo's airflow capability.

On the issue of intake charge temps the direct injection system already minimizes the chance of knock developing since there isn't fuel in the chamber until the spark is ready to be fired (and if you don't have fuel you can't have knock). If you were injecting methanol or another fuel it wouldn't surprise me if you saw more knock is you were pushing everything to the ragged edges. It would be hard to say for certain without data logging though.

Now on a convention port-delivered fuel setup and a car with hot charge temps like what come off an M62 in the LSJ is can be helpful. But to maximize gains you need to custom tune the engine management to take advantage of the properties of the alcohol. Meaning you might lean the car out or increase ignition timing. This might net some nice gains but if the injection pump goes out or a nozzle clogs you have a much greater chance of hurting the engine, especially as the cylinder pressures increase (such as what happens with high boost and/or high compression engines).

Either choice wouldn't be bad and both have pro and cons. With those type of cars on a used car lot you won't get service history so I'd probably run the VIN at the service department at a GM/Mitsu dealer to make sure they weren't a basket case.

I was just at the Chevy dealer earlier tonight. Was out with my parents who are in town visiting and stopped to check out one of the last four '09 SS sedans in the region. Not too bad and even more of a sleeper. Might have to pick one up some day.
