Socal Just ordered stage 2!!!!!

HELL YA!

Just ordered a stage 2 kit for my 05 cobalt.
Where do I go to get this installed? Ive called dealers from sandiego to yorba linda, each one saying they dont do it. Should i get a performance shop to do this? Or is there a good chevy dealer? please help!!!
I got a hold of a performance shop in Long Beach that has a good rep. and are quoting $150 for the install. Do you all know how this will effect the warranty? Is it better to just go with a performance shop that will do the job right the first time, rather then the dealer? Whats your opinion?

thank you and merry xmas

well being an '05 im surprised it still has a warranty but if warranty doesn't matter, then you can install your self or have one of us locals do it for you.

as for keeping the warranty, i'm not too sure if you get it done at a performance shop if it will void it or not. Your going to have to find a dealer that will do it(not cheap) to be sure though.

frankly im kinna surprised that you got told no by all of them.

and Merry Christmas to you as well.

alright man i think wat it is is because urs is an 05 they dnt wanna touch it eventhough they can. If ur vehicle is still in warranty than if u have a performance shop do it. GM will only warranty the parts for 12 months because they can say a shitty install caused **** to break. If u have them install it it is cover the 5/100,000. 150 is a good price. The GM service Labor Manual says it takes 2 hours. So must dealership prices for hourly labor would put it 160-200 install. They will they to tell u around the 500 area but dnt let them bullshit u man. Oh and I just became a premium member.lol

hey thanks for your guys responses.

So what I gather from you all is if GM installs it it is covered under my power train warranty. (the 5/100,000) My basic warranty is up. (the 3yr 36k)

Engine, and trans I have had no problems. But if I were to have stage 2 installed by a performance shop and say something brakes in my engine; not caused by the install and its going to be somewhat costly. Will GM still warranty it?? Or do they only really warranty within the 3yr/36? Sorry for all the dumb questions lol

I got stage 2 mainly for reliability and peace of mind. After this im done adding power, and its cooling mods. Just want to make sure I go the right route with this and you guys are a HUGE help!

THANks!!

slobalt I miss ya man

My dealership quoted me 480 for the install so I did it myself and just drove it down there and had them reflash it it only cost me 75(half hour labor charge) and two hours of my time

ok man just remember wat i said about how long the service manual says it takes to install if u have the dealer do it. They will try to rape u on price. But as for the new warranty ? ur askin it gets a little hairy. If somtin breaks say ur i/c pump went out the dealer could claim that they wont warranty any engine issue because they didnt install the stg 2 and that's wat caused it. But in the case tell them to prove to u how the stg. 2 caused the issue or u will take them to court. My i/c pump failed and i took it in and they said they werent gonna cover it because of my cai. I told them prove to me how that caused the i/c pump to fail or i'll take u to court and they warrantied my **** nxt day.lol
