well i just got mine in today and i am really pleased at the product. the only thing that threw me off on a trip to wal mart was the H1 bulb in the one projector had something sticky on it and started smoking. so i bought a new one for 2 bucks and all is well. the cut off on these things are brilliant. now i just cant wait to get my HID's and get these aimed better and ill be set. thanks operatic.

Yeah, I have the same problem, the wires on the inside of the LED broke on one of mine. Operatic doesn't want to respond to any of my messages, so can you tell me what size (code) the LED is so I can change it out?

Operatic, horrible customer service! I sent you a message on the 11th and the 16th and your status shows you've been online on the 12th and today as well. Where the hell is my response? I will never deal with your company again. (This is not the first communication problem I've had as well...)

1st, let me say great thread and what looks to be like an excellent deal with fantastic support.
With all the lighting knowledge that visits this thread I figure I can get the best answer here...if not a bit biased one...

Here's my question:

I'm planning on doing a drive across the US in 38 days... I will be driving it in a cannonball run fashion.... So I want the brightest lighting system available for this car and still maintain the stock appearance. (AKA I don't want to mount giant rally-type lights)

From what I've read on these HID's the higher the number, is NOT necessarily the brightest option. Anything over 4100k just changes color. I personally am not into the 'look how cool these look on my car'... I'm into the how friggin far can I see when I'm doing 130 at night.

Can you guys point me in the right direction?

Thanks ahead of time for your responses.

Cheers,l

I agree. Any luxury or high end sports car.. i.e. lexus, nissan gt-r, bmw, etc. will have no higher than 4300k stock as it produces the most lumens and the whitest light. The only thing you will have to do if you get these projectors being sold on this thread is to take your time and aim them properly. If you do that..you will be very pleased at how far you will be able to see down the road.

I was wondering if the 3rd gens produce the dreaded V that the first gens do with HIDs, basically a space with very little light which makes the point of HIDs pointless.

I'm fed up with my first gens and dont like the second gens, please tell me these just produce awesome light output (with HIDs)

Its all about aiming... I have mine aimed so that the far right side of my drivers side projector touches the far left side of my passenger side projector when I'm about 30 feet away from an object. When driving down the road there is no space in front of my car that has no light. its just one long horizontal line of awesome light.

However, It took me about three days/nights to get them right. I would aim them where i thought they needed to be, took it out at night and noticed which way i needed to go and re aimed the next day and so forth. You could probably do it in one night if you were willing to pull over somewhere..take out your headlight and re aim them.

but you have 3rd gens right? but if yours are good then that answers my question (as long as you have a HID).

For some reason the first gens dont agree with HIDs and because of the return lead on HID bulbs it causes a void. Supposably if you drilled out a new slot for the lead it would fix the problem but it was a big waste of time for me. I dunno why but I found a thread about it after I already got my lights of course, they are aligned perfectly, at 25 ft they are 2 inches below the headlight and the cut offs are even and all that good stuff, its just that void from the lead.

I haven't ever heard that before but even looking at some members pics of their first gens on the road you can tell. I just wanted to make sure this didn't happen on the third gens either because I'm obviously gonna take a loss on my first gen purchase.

is the thread about the lead and all that, old and pics are removed, but it starts on page 4 and its just a big hassle

once again though, these are the FIRST gens, I don't want anyone wanting to buy 3rd gens see this and sway them away.

yes i do have 3rd gens and from what I believe you are speaking about with the lead and such with the 1st gens you will not have that problem with the 3rd. I do have 6k HID's in mine at the moment and they take the H1 bulb type for both low and high beams. The projector lens cutoff is really nice and it has a nice purple tint in the cutoff but anything below the cutoff is a nice white with the 6k's.

I took a couple pics last night driving with them on..when i get home ill post them so you can see for yourself.

Wrong, 4k is too bright and you will face getting pulled over. 6-8k is your money maker. I went with 8 and no problems at all and there soooo bright.

What do you love about them? How well you can see? Or how 'cool' the blue hue looks?

What type of driving do you do?

City?

Highway - City

Highway - Rural?

Cross-Country?

Well, all he said was that he wanted maximum light, so I gave him the correct answer...
