Quaife 6 Speed Info
We have been talking with Quaife now for some time about this kit and things you (members) would like to see done:
We talked to them about offering the new gear set in a new tranny case completely assembled, they are talking it over down there, and may do this.
We requested they offered 3 things:
1. Current new 6 speed gear set (currently avaliable)
2. New 6 speed gear set, already installed in a new GM case, with NO Differential
3. New 6 speed gear set, already installed in a new GM case, with a Quaife LSD Differential
We hope to get an answer soon.
This way members that crack their case can get a new case and get the new gear set
What does everyone think?

Maybe a reman/used case would be more cost effective for those that want the entire tranny.
I know it may be unrealistic but if this thing was 2k cheaper I may have considered it. I know you must pay to play but I prefer to pay smart and play and get more for my money. I hope the tranny in the new TC is stronger.
Good question. I am interested in that aswell.

We are hoping, they come back and state: around $4500 for the case and gear set installed and no Diff, and $5500 for a complete case/gearset/and quaife LSD ready to set in place.
This means it is only about $500 for the case and install of the gear set in the tranny, over the current price.
$500 for a tranny case and all the labor to install would be well worth it in my opinion.

you can get a brand new lsd equiped stock trans for 2300. Used for around a grand. This reminds me of the wrx gears from ppg. really expensive, but atleast those are a lot stronger. I'd have to replace my trans twice to pay more than this is going to cost(45k hard miles on stock open diff trans). I think this is a good idea, its just really really expensive. These cars just took a huge hit in value because of the new ss/tc that is coming. So your talking about a trans that is going to cost more than a 1/4 of the value of the car.
My vote..if they could drop the price to 3500(with lsd cause i don't see why anyone would replace the trans and not get a lsd)...which i'd still consider expensive becasue it isn't proven, they would probably be able to move a lot more units at a smaller profit, but atleast they would move.
Whoever at quaife that thought this was a good idea at that price range really dropped the ball here. Most people that own these cars are probably 17-25..most of them with little money to spend on car upgrades because of school bills, car payment..ect.
Another idea is scrap this 6spd idea and make a stronger 5 spd unit with diff gear ratios and a lsd for less than the price of a brand new unit.

Lotus is using a modified version of the LNF and the F35 transmission in the Europa S. I don't think Cobalts or Ions actually made a difference to Quaife. We most likely would not even have this option if it wasn't for Lotus.

It would be ideal if it were offered already assembled with the LSD . Alot of shops dont have the tools to work on the F35 . A buddy of mine thats a tech said separting the case is very difficult . Thats info from a year ago though , maybe more shops have worked on them now .

That's why this conversion has a 2.72 ratio for 1st instead of the stocker's 3.38. Now, if you combine that with a 3.82 final instead of the stock 4.04, you've got a pretty nice aggressive gearing and a better overdrive ratio. *hint*hint*

We are still talking this over with Quaife... Hopefully something comes out of it this next week.
They also brought this up and it is a possiblity

Hum negative, Lotus is using the old Opel iron bloc in the Europa S, an engine you never got in the US.
And I'm almost sure it is with a M32 gearbox
