Shift and brake boots group buy
#479
Just got mine and installed in 15 deg weather... the old boot was falling to pieces. everything fit great except the top part of the shift boot since i don't have the reverse lockout anymore... a little ziptie fixed that no problem. Thanks for the awesome group buy!

i got my car used so the tabs on the silver piece with the gear numbers was broken, it was glued on, so i have to glue it back.
the install for me sucked but it does look good, now my problem is the momo handle i put on and the button doesnt even make it out, so whats up with that?
i can still use my e brake but releasing it now is retarded
its annoying
regardless of my install being crap love the products

I like the ebrake cover very nice looking, do they have ferrari style shift gates available for our cars? Just think it will look a little sportier then the old shift boot, not that i mind, its just i would prefer.

You have to be a little creative with the MOMO handle. A razor knife or, preferrably, Dremel tool will do it. You have to carve a little out of the plastic ring on the bottom of the handle so it slides down further on the ebrake lever. OR!! I SUPPOSE you could get even more creative and Dremel a little off the metal lever itself. OR a combination of BOTH so as not to remove too much from either one. If I had it to do again doing both is the way I would go. I also shaved down and shaped the button end of the handle so it fits INTO the MOMO handle just enough that the button extends out as far as it did stock. Good luck. Now all I need is the boots so I can put everything back together again.

good idea, i did try to shave some of the ebrake handle at the bottom where the MOMO handle hits but it wasnt helpin much, i used a big file. so you guys are saying i can cut some of the inside of the Momo handle with a razor blade?

No no no not the MOMO handle just the ebrake..I used a razor and trimmed the big lasticy rubber part that sticks out on the passenger side as well as some of the bottom (including the little tab that's down there) once I trimmed those things down it went on snug and I was able to get it perfect. Now I just gotta wait for my Hurst STS to get here...
Yeah. I cut quite deep. But there are four set screws so even if you cut into the black plastic ring REAL deep, which I did, the MOMO handle will still attach firmly and if you use a zip tie to attach the top of the boot and pull it good and tight it will lock onto the handle above the set screw bosses and the black ring just fills out the leather and gives some shape to the top of the boot. I actually goofed and started grinding on the metal part of the handle while the plastic ring was off and sitting on the bench before realizing it was the PLASTIC RING that had to be cut. But no harm no foul, I'm good to go as soon as my boots get here.

how is everyone securing the end of the boot to the ebrake handle and the shifter knob..you can't zip tie it through... And damn I got 1 in shorter with the twm and its slackier then my stock boot :/

Got mine in the mail, and when I looked at it I already knew it wasnt what I wanted, the shift boot was not the size i specified. ( 2" shorter then stock) as to ajust for my shortshifter, In fact its about an inch longer. and there were no instructions on there website as to how to remove old shifter and shift boot on the Lt.
