06 ss brakes

I was just about to make the final decision on getting the brakes and hubs from this 06 cobalt and then I confirmed if they were the brembos. To my surprise they were not and the guy said they were just "ss brakes". Is there such a thing and if so how good are they. Should I just get these hubs and rear axle then just search for better brakes, or search for a better loner car for the complete package.

The 05-07' SS/SC came with regular single piston calipers w/ high performance pads. They are very good brakes for sure, and are the brakes you are speaking of. They also came on 2.4 SS/NA cars.

The 08-10' SS/TC came with 4 piston Brembo calipers up front.

You can install Brembos on an SS/SC. I have them. CED and ZZP have kits to do so.

I can upgrade these once I have them though correct? I plan on making it a track car and currently have a budget. So in reality its just the hubs and rear discs I'm after but i get the bonus of being able to upgrade to better brakes.

2007 LT, manual and power windows/locks is all it has. Drums in rear and no ABS, almost bone stalker. Has a K&N intake though.

you're going to need the whole rear twist beam from an SS to swap the rears I believe.

The rear brakes from the turbo cars can have issues anyways, you'll be fine using the rear from an 06.
