for all those who have asked, SSC springs

I've had a few people ask about the SSC springs and how much of a drop they really give. the information online is not consistent at all, everyone that sells them claims something different. I have some pictures that will hopefully answer everyones questions.

the car is an 06 cobalt LS sedan. el cheapo factory wheels. 3/4 tank of gas and nothing inside to really weigh it down. The left and right side are level within 1/8 of an inch.

Before:

After:

and now the good stuff.

Front, center of bumper is 9" above the ground:

Front wheel well is 25" above the ground at the center, about an inch and a half gap between the tire and the body (give or take, its hard to see with the shadow):

Front rocker panel in front of the door is about 9 1/8" above the ground, sorry the picture sucks.

Rear rocker panel is about 8 3/4" above the ground:

Rear wheel well is about 25 3/16" above the ground at the center, about 1 1/4" gap between the wheel and the tire and the body.

Rear exhaust outlet cut in the bumper thing, about 12 3/4" above the ground at the top of the cutout.

Holy big pictures Batman! I had these springs and they blew my struts the first week I had them b/c they are so much of a drop in the front! I dont recommend them to anybody wanting to keep there struts intact!

the pictures are big for a reason, I want the tape measure to be clear. I guess I could crop them down a little and not loose much detail...

It doesn't matter if you have a 2.2, 2.4 or 2.0 the end result will be the same. you will see less DROP with a 2.4, but in the end your ride height will be exactly the same.

The drop is less than most other springs out there, I have had them for bout 10,000 miles now with no issues. plenty of other people have used them with no issues as well. Sportlines will give you an even larger drop and few people have had any problems there. Tenzo's are a HUGE drop and I haven't heard anyone say they blew their struts with them yet. I'm guessing the problem is your car not the springs.

Do some more research before you make that decision. one spring won't be harder on the struts than another will, at least nothing substantial. I have been using them for 10,000 miles, no issues what so ever. look at how many people are using them, I would say they are the 2nd most common behind the sportlines. just do your homework before you buy anything, and remember there is always going to be some negative.

well ssc is a 1.25 drop, which seems alright and nothin harsh on the struts, but i want these springs to last acouple years , do you think ssc springs will?

I don't see why they won't. there is a lifetime no sag guarantee. obviously they haven't been proven yet because they are fairly new to the market. But at the same time Eibach springs are in the same boat. sure they have a solid reputation and a big name, but they still haven't been proven to last.

Personally, I haven't seen any sag yet. The ride is still every bit as good as it was when I first got them. I don't see any problems coming up. I'm totally happy with them and wouldn't think twice about buying another set for my next car.

The SSC springs are def more a drop than the Sportlines, I know this b/c I have both of them and the SSC springs have almost the same spring rate as the stock springs so thats why they blow struts, it bottoms out to easy

there is no way. the sportlines advertise a larger drop, not that that really matters a lot. My car doesn't sit anywhere near as low as a car with sportlines.

Also with the sportlines they say you need to cut the bump stops, not with the ssc's. I have never bottomed out the car, and thats with the bump stops still in place.

who's the girl attached to those legs?

Could you measure from the center of the wheel to the lip on the fenders please? That measurement would be consistent for all models and tire sizes. The SSC or CA#1 look like what I want on my 2.4. Sportlines look good but are a little more drop than I want.

The SSC's didnt come w/ any type of instructions soo it wont say to cut them but I read that the Sportlines have less of a drop then the SSC's. What do you mean when your talking about my GF? I dont get it lol

the overall diameter of the wheels between the 15" and the 18" is 1.41", the 18's being taller. the 17" is even taller still, 0.2 taller than the 18"

So from the ground the SS/SC fender should be at about 26 3/8" off the ground in the front, 26 1/2" in the back. the SS/NA should sit .2" higher than that.

I was saying nice legs...
