I also have read that the competition knuckle was derived from the g6 knuckle. if so, what modifications would need to be made to the g6 knuckle to make it work on a balt?

G6 knuckle required some machining. competition knuckle is machined. Unless you track your car, dont worry about it. Better still upgrade to LNF knuckle but requires modification and machining for lsj cars to use the axles and retain abs as it needs a wheel bearing change to use the axles and keep abs etc.

Yeah sounds like it would be easier to machine the g6 knuckle than to go with the lnf setup. I have access to a cnc/manual bridgeport mill, a drill press, manual lathe, and also some 3 and 5 axis laser machines, so all I need to know is what needs to be machined on the g6 bracket. Any faces that need to be machined, or holes that need to be reamed, I can take care of. However, if any of the holes in the g6 knuckle are too large, that may pose an issue.

are all the g6 knuckles the same?

uhh nobody has specified what needs to be machined on the knuckle. nor has anyone confirmed that all years/trims of g6 knuckles are the same.
