KYB GR-2 struts not tight enough for Eibach Pro Kit springs
I just tried to install the eibach pro kit on my 2.2, with KYB GR-2 struts and monroe strut mounts(only brand in rochester at the time). I cannot for the life of me get the struts tight enough and the springs PING like a motha whenever I make any turns. I realize the struts aren't tight enough and I'm going to go return the KYB struts and strut mounts. Which struts are low enough for the eibach pro-kit or what would you guys recommend? I'm thinking ss FE5 but I'm really not sure. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Yeah I was in a bind and figured I'd just get the monroe mounts to get the job done. Learned my lesson pretty quick. I'll get the FE5 struts/strut mounts and put the eibach springs on it, that should work right?

Struts work great, but I still have a problem. The strut mounts I have do not have the lower part that is shaped to fit the spring. Every strut mount I've looked at doesn't have them, except for the ones in my car right now. What am I missing?

No I'm not, and I'm an idiot. I figured it out. Beneath the strut mount and seat is another bracket that helps conform to the spring and hold it in place. On a diagram of the whole strut that dealers have it would be part #7. Unfortunately I can't find it just by it self online and am afraid its a dealer part. I'll keep you guys updated on how much the damage will be.

Notes on Suspension Upgrade with FE5 and Eibach Pro Kit
Ok I just finished the job. I used FE5 struts with Eibach Pro Kit Springs. I also bought new strut mounts (OEM) and re-used the insulators and bearing. I also bought the Spring Seat, as it is called. This is the little bastard part I've been looking for 6 weeks and the root of all my problems. The part# is 22716379 for my 2005. You will need these to complete the job and make the springs sit right. I deconstructed the old struts and used insulators and bearings because to buy them new was ridiculously over-priced. They were fine anyway, just cleaned them off.
Also, HUGE recommendation is to paint the struts, as they do not come painted, it will extend the life of them and they'll look a lot better. I used rustoleum oil paint, gloss black. You can even paint them yellow if you want people to think you spent the money on konis.
I bought my struts and mounts from CrateEngineDepot.com, and pro kit from Amazon. Good luck with everything and thank you everybody for your advice and help.

No idea why, but painting them is definitely gonna extend the life of the parts. I replaced the mounts and spring seats because of surface rust and the rubber in the mounts starting to dry a bit. I figured I might as well do it while I have everything apart. You could go monroe or OEM, I didn't really notice a difference between the two. I should've done monroe mounts and saved a bunch of money but I was stupid and ordered the OEM ones (Monroe strut mounts come with bearing and nuts, and are pretty decent. OEM does not come with either).
Your call on the mounts and seats, if you can do it, replace them. But I'd reuse the insulators (semi clear and black ones) if you can. I just wiped them off. I talked with the parts dept at my dealership and found them to be ridiculously expensive for the insulators.
What I put in new: Eibach Pro Kit springs, FE5 Front Struts, OEM Strut Mounts and Spring Seats.
Re-used: Seat bearing, Insulators, and bolts.
What I should've used instead of OEM Mounts: Monroe or KYB, they come with bearing and nuts (cheaper too).
Let me know if you have any more questions. I have a 2005 base model I'm slowly upgrading. Next step is Eibach 27mm sway bar and DC sports strut tower brace, when I get the extra money.
