Raising the Engine and Transmission

So for awhile now I've needed to raise my engine and trans. because of the axle bind that I get. I'm lowered a good amount and I've been trying to find a way to raise up the drivetrain. I already have the Powell rotated trans. mounts installed. I can raise the passenger engine mount up an inch, but the upper trans. mount is the one I can't figure out how to raise. Has anyone ever made a custom upper trans. mount that raises it an inch or so?

Have installed steering rack spacers since you lowered your car?

Looking at your pics shows how low you are, so rack spacers may not totally solve your problem but they will raise the axels and they are pretty inexpensive. Spacers were designed for lowered cars so I would try spacers long before you go making other changes. Just a suggestion.

Thanks man But the rack spacers are just for raising the P/S rack and helps with bumpsteer, not with axle bind

You could try raising the left side trans mount but it would require some sort of custom installation as it's not normally replaced with anything.

It installs into a hole in the frame, so you'd have to use a stock style mount and re-design the arm that goes over the trans to lift it slightly.

IMO, you'd get more gain by rotating the engine/trans more than the powell stuff does, it's not a huge rotation. You could space the rear mount up even more and possibly elongate the front mount points or use a more offset bushing to get less axle bind. Just trying to lift the trans via that mount i'm afraid won't be very effective. It serves as more of a pivot point than a carrier.

Very interesting.. Yeah over the Winter I took out that mount to see if I could do anything with it. I couldn't think of anything at all. I know one guy that fabricated a steel mount that was basically 2 pieces of metal welded 90 degrees and raised it up

If anyone cares, I raised it up months ago and haven't had any issues with stock axles, and even went a little lower

Just add washers to where the mount bolts up to, thats what randy the guy with the white sedan did to avoid axle bind a little and he is literally laying frame lol

On the rear mount you mean? Where it sits on the subframe?

Yes just under the mount to puah it up a bit, should lift the engine and trans up. Thus relieving the stress to the axles
