if OTT put together a hardcore brake package for the 4 lugs using the astra brakes like you outlined it would open up the possibilities for vented rears that are 10.1 " sorry for the jacking .. i'm just curious

I am working on it

brakes dont reduce stopping distance, tires do

both brakes and tires can reduce stopping distance.

The TC set-up just need a lighter rotor, but I can see for non TC cars the OTTP is a good way to go as an upgrade. Combined with a good light wheel, the amount of unsprung shaved would be substantial over stock set-up.

only if your experiencing brake fade.
unless your on the autocross, you will not reduce brake distances at all with any brake upgrades when using the same tire.

you should learn before you call someone out. its usually embarrassing when you find out they were right and you were wrong

umm .. what ... assuming the tire can hold the road while braking upgrading the brakes will effect braking distance.. if the tire skids it's not holding the road.. and not effectively making use of the brakes ...

right...but a brake package will always be able to grip a caliper better than a tire can grip the road. Thats why when braking, the caliper stops the rotor from spinning completely, but the tire keeps sliding on the road, instead of the other way around. a stock base model 2.2 can lock their brakes with ease...therefore brake force is NOT the limiting factor in stopping, but tire grip is.

if you want a better explanation, go read i think the 2nd page of mavens thread called "sneak peek: time attack brake" or w/e he called it.

the tire have a rating to how much it can hug the road
so even if you put 747 carbon fiber brakes its
not goin to be effective.
