Suspension and brake facts (FE1, FE3, FE5, J41, JM4, JL9)

You have the FE3 suspension to start with, so you do have lower springs from the factory to start with. Thats fine, and as you asked, you would not have to lower a car to do sway bars.
You idea to start with just the rear bar is a good idea. If you ever wanted to do the front, just use the FE5 bar instead of the Eibach.
You can verify the parts numbers from Eibachs website. Don't worry too much about it, just order the rear bar from whoever you buy from.

Not to confuse you, and i think Maven read over this, otherwhise he would have said something. The 08+ FE5 front sway bars are the same thickness, but have a slighly different shape to them. try and get an 08+ front bar if you can. Otherwhise like always, Maven is bang on.

plus 2 x links 20784688 for $52.85. do i need 2 or 1???
sorry im a noob
thank you

Now I realize that all sounds like I'm being a smart ass, but thats on purpose. I'm trying to keep you from taking apart your perfectly good car before you have actually taken the time to learn how it works.
#109
i imagine he'll have his shop do it, he's just trying to get the correct parts first.
You need both, one for each side. the endlinks connect the swaybars to your struts, enabling them to do their job.

There may be an alternative coming to market though......Ill show y'all when i get it, and maybe we'll gauge interest, and if enough guys want them I am sure OTTP would sell em.
#116
will stay tuned in
#117
why? is it because of the axles? or hubs?
#118
Its because of both. You have to use SS/TC hubs an in order to use the SS/TC knuckles. In order to use the SS/TC hubs you must use SS/TC axles. In order to use SS/TC axles you must have an F35. The only car besdies the TC that has the F35 as far as Balts go is the SS/SC. Only 2007 SS/SCs have the same ABS system as the SS/TC. Ipso facto:
Only 2007 SS/TC's can use SS/TC Knuckles.
Only 2007 SS/TC's can use SS/TC Knuckles.

or, you can go bonkers and have a hybrid
thanks for the clarification though.
I think Qwik explained it at one point, but i may have missed it, or just figured i would leave it to him to do the right thing, no point in trying to fiddle with his system haha. He does a good job, i try not to ask to many questions.

Time attack has Koni v.1 twisting beam with v.4 bar added.
Got that? I cant be more specific, then foks will try and copy it and FAIL! You got the good stuff! and a good deal as well but in cases like this good deals are not cheap anyway. How's this? GBM will build a Koni race Cobalt for 75 k. We built them for $54k in 06. Need a donor car and a body in white to start. Yikes!
If anyone is changing front bars, Maven posted a how to, and Halfcent has summarised the suspension iterations here very well. Its a question of carefully writing out what you want to do, not just jumping in a hacking away at it,then executing carefully. Halfcent just said (good advice) that anyone looking to change their car should be cautious and be familiar with what they have....

Wait, wait, wait.
I thought knuckle replacement was completely interchangeable. Just the knuckle now, not all those other parts. The whole "good news" part of the new 2009 TC knuckle was that it was a cheaper alternative to the GM Racing knuckles.
#124
You can install all the parts in an earlier SS/SC but youll lose your ABS.
You CAN NOT install them in a 2.2/2.4 car. I verified this a few months ago.
I dont think I have any conflicting info anywhere.......pretty sure i dont have any posts saying they are a direct bolt-in in all cars.
