My front end is "clunking" over bumps and with shrp left/right manouvers (both directions) i.e., lane change or slalom. Thught it was the endlinks; replaced them with powergrids - now I have adjustable endlinks AND a clunking front end, lol.

I'm thinking control arm bushings? Anyone think otherwise?

If that's it, I can't find part numbers for the stock replacement part (must use stock part, otherwise I'd go FE5 and OTTP sphericals). Help there?

 

There is a TSB for clunking in the steering. It's a problem with the intermediate shaft. If you are still under warranty, the dealer will fix it for free.

 

Warranty long gone. What's the fix? I thought there was a TSB for the LCA bushings as well? I looked, they're shot. So I guess I should fix both issues.

Need a part # for bushings.

Need to know what this intermediate shaft issue is and how to fix.

 

If you have inspected the LCA bushings and found them bad, just replace those. I noticed just now that you have a Saturn, so the steering item may not apply to you. Don't worry about the steering. If you insist, the TSB is published here on the site somewhere, try a search for it.

As for replacing the bushing, consider a couple of options at this time. You will have to purchase the bushings obviously, but then you will have to have a shop press them in for you. Does your Saturn have the FE5 LCA's? If not, this might be a good excuse for picking them up now.

Found he aprt numbers, not so much luck finding them in stock.

Don't need a shop to press them, there's a tool for that.

I've been looking into the FE5 LCA's for a long time; I want them. I also can't run them in SCCA Stock class, so even if I pick them up, I can't install them until next season.

Ya I don't think I will do all of these to an SS/SC but are all of these parts interchangable with my 2006 SS/SC?

 

The knuckle is not. The rest is. With your 2006, you wouldn't need clamps or links.

 

So what would I need for my 06 LS to accept a FE5 swaybar 1 bolt clamps or 2? I would assume 2 bolt but you know what happens when you assume.

CED doesnt have the LNF swaybar

Easiest way to know is to go look at your car and see what you've got!

 

Well currently my car is about 400 miles away.

 

if your car came with a 2.2 in it it has 1bolt clamps. and you need to just reuse them and order '05 SS bushings.

So aside from shocks and struts what else would folks recommend if I want to update my SS/SC FE5? If I keep her I would do SSC lower springs instead of the LNF FE5 springs.

 

That is all since you dont want the springs and you already have the endlinks, swaybar, control arms, ect.

With the Knuckles is it worth the trouble of trying to get them set to work on my SS/SC?

 

Well that is a basis of opinion and since I grewup around fast hondas(490hp EF 4 door, 380hp ek hatch, 420hp em1, ect.) and they kept stock knuckles and sway bars I would assume you to be fine.

No you are fine. The big thing with the knuckles is if it will improve things...I am at such an impass. Keep the SS/SC upgrade the suspension among other things, trade it in on a SS/TC or go all out spend the extra money on a monthly payment and get a Camaro.....

 

You do not want to get TC knuckles. They are not compatible. That is discussed earlier in the thread. If you want upgraded knuckles, you will have to get the GM Racing set.

 

Well if you get rid of it lemme get the Bwoody rear bar and the TTR rear Sway bar.

 

I had seen they were not compatible or a direct bolt on but ya know somtimes folks retro fit things or fabricate.... I have an SV650S motorcycle and we are throwing on shocks and dog bones from Kawasaki motorcycles, so who knows man....thanks for the info though you are one of the few that pipes in these days.
