What would I need to go from Fe3 to Fe5 front sway bar?

My 2005 Cobalt with fe3 which is base suspension needs a new sway bar in the front and I was wondering what parts would I need to replace it with a fe5 sway bar from an SS?

The dealer said:

Fe5 Link kits
Fe5 Bushings
Fe5 Brackets
Fe5 Control Arms

The only one I question is the fe5 control arms.

What do you mean by FE3 "base suspension"? Is your car a 2.4 or a 2.2? The 2.2 came with FE1 and the 2.4 had FE3.

I am going to assume you mean you have a 2.4 with FE3 suspension. I suggest you keep the stock front bar. The larger FE5 bar will increase understeer. I suggest instead upgrading to a rear sway bar, particularly the Powell Street Bar. This will control some of the body leaning without creating horrendous understeer.

If you do go with a FE5 front bar, you do not need FE5 control arms.

Oops, I meant the fe1 suspension, not the fe3.

Yes, there has been a very loud clunking noise since I got the car, the dealer just looked at it yesterday and said that the sway bar is broken.

I typed up a more detailed reply, but the site kicked me off before I could post it. This site can be frustrating.

To make is short, get a buddy to jack up your car and check the clamp down bushings and end links first. Also check for signs of a front end collision. (Sway bars don't just break.)

Check the sticky, Suspension and brake facts (FE1, FE3, FE5, J41, JM4, JL9) for part numbers etc.

I would like to add that the dealership costs more to buy the fe1 swaybars buying the fe5 is cheaper.

My dealership quoted me $248 for the fe1 swaybar.

And $120 for the fe5 swaybar.

Then they tried to make excuses on why it wont work such as control arms are different and I would have to buy them at $300 a piece.
