YYZ springs

oh I don't know, fast is relative lol...I'm happy with the lap time though, honestly I wasn't expecting much below 1:55, but when I realized I was catching the 73 stingray and the zo6 I punch it up a couple notches. Funny how that carrot in front of your face becomes an obsession and ya just have catch em. I think I can get into the 1:40s next year after a bit more practice. It was way better than last year when I was on pedders/fe5 strut/shocks, that time was almost embarrassing....ugh...3:03.

yep these springs do business.. i will vouch for working on speedybuggys car and having them on my personal car as well. not a single spring can touch these as far as what you get for handling, ride comfort and so forth. the drop on the v2 is enough to satisfy me(thanks again john) and it gives me a well balanced car. need to throw some better tires at it as the hankooks are done.
good job henry on them lap times. his car also has a hardcore bar, spherical rear control arm bushings, and twisting beam bushings....... which on a side note i will add the spherical bushings are awesome. the amount of travel they free up is great and helps keep the tires where they need to be.

I need to spend either $650 and put all the CAB bushings in or $900 and have them all set to go on from Powell, someone convince me one way or the other. I'm on V.3 YYZ's BTW and love them but my passengers side control arm moves around and the drivers side is cracked all the way around.

I need so many parts from you but I know I don't have the money, as long as I'm not hurting anything I'll try to take it easier on the car. I have to get rotated mounts from you and I'd probably drive to your shop depending on the distance because I'd really like for you to look at how my brakes are with the spacers in, their not centered but I'm first going to make a trip out to mongo for SS body parts and possibly MI for TC seats if I can work out a deal. I'm just outside of Buffalo BTW. Also interested in the rear brake swap but that's far off.
Not to mention I also would like to get an LSD installed at the same time I do a clutch before the turbo is on.
I'm on FE1 shitty control arms so I'd be going FE5 ones and both Powell CABs, I'll probably get them preassembled maybe I could work out something with then install if I make the trip.

^^^ I think you will be happy ; Tom is banging out a good strut/spring /assembled deal there. I appreciate customers buying these springs, it is really a point of pride for me to have come up with a Genuine Powell YYZ rising rate spring solution in response to member input. Then I was blessed to be able to get them made by my long time US supplier for race springs; they put some race stuff aside temporarily, and came up with the engineering solution and production, at a reasonable cost. We will be running more spring production in December, sales are strong. (no change to the v.3 /4) Thank you.

Yeah it was about time to replace the struts (60k miles) and I figured for a bit more I can get the springs ive been hearing so many good things about. I have done about as much engine wise as Im going to so, this was the next logical step. Its nice having a job and being able to buy parts! Anyway I took some good before pics today of the wheel gap on both front and back using my hand as a point of reference. I think next saturday Ill be putting in the struts so hopefully Ill have the after pics up that night.

Idk the word, but how harsh is the yyz v2 or v3 on the fe3 suspension? And how stiffer are they compare to the fe3?
For example if I were to only change the springs.
Thank you

fe3 would be the same as a stock redline ; I think you would not find them harsh at all but the overall impression would be firmer. BUT that said the thing you will like is how much better the car will put the power down as it wont squat so much at the rear. Add a hardcore bar this month and get half price shipping lol

Also i wanted to say that, how harsh is on the fe3 shocks and struts? Will it affect them a lot that they will need to be replace more?
#567
no matter what springs you have, the shocks are older than the new springs should you replace them. I dont think its a life or death situation, so long as your existing struts and shocks are not leaking you should be okay.

the problem is twin tube stock shocks dont last long, but they are cheap to make. so if you have 20k miles on them they are weak to start with....tc replacements are cheap.

And just shocks or both shock and struts would be recommended to replace? My suspension still factory with little over 60k mi.

I wouldn't say stiffer but a higher dampening. Think of it this way the shocks are trying to not move as the springs bounce along, FE1 going over a bump is going to bounce bad a few times vs FE5 possibly not even bouncing at all and maintains composure over the bump.

Just got the struts and shocks and springs! John quick question, I know its amateur but which side of the rear springs go up. the side with the coils closer together or farther apart?
#571
the spring dont care, but lately i put the dead coils ( closer together ) UP so the salt and dirt is less likely to go there.

Thats the plan. On ramps here I come! on a side note, still havent gotten up the nerve to attempt the CAB replacements. I figure when I get out to WA ill do that and order a hardcore bar.
#575
the cabs are easy if you freeze them over night and have a press. let me know when u do, i resend you the how to. if you are doing springs.....
