Beware of James Rakes Tunes...
#26
sub'd would like to know full details. How does one know or trust if this is a finalized file or just a base file of some sort. He's been tuning me for a year now with a couple of different set ups and gas types and looks like he knows what he's doing... I trust James and never had an issue with anything. Always helped me out and did what he could.

not having anything wrong with the car does not mean the tune was good...
you can get an operation and they leave a scalpel inside you and you will be fine
... well for the most part.

Ill post my tune when I get home to my computer. It was looked at by numerous other people and no one had anything wrong to say with it. It's people who get a base tune and say oh I'm having issues. Well no crap it's a base file to log with.

Well pretty much not surprised at this thread.. lol ive seen some decent tunes from him. But also some very wacky ones that i would never pay money for... let alone trust the work over all as in this business it does not matter if you have tuned 1000 cars once one blows and it's the tuners fault then your reputation goes buh bye! .. but hey some people like ticking time bombs they dont have the code to disarm... makes life interesting as you never know when your going to blow and end up paying the same guy more $$$ to help work on your car!

Yup. James always took care of me. Even went above and beyond. he tune me under 50k and I'm now at 105k. 0 issues on both turbos. That's dragging, road coursing, highway pulls, canyon runs. That's my experience.

My point exactly. I dogged my car worse than probably anyone here and 0 and I mean 0 issues. No knock or anything and I logged my car hundreds of times

On a side note, everything going good in KC?

Wow that wg table is awful you cannot crank the duty cycle like that at lower desired boost levels it causes surge issues which cause the drivability to suffer badly. Those DALs make the car like a light switch although some customers want the car to hit super aggressive like that. Was the MALT table smooth or was it just cranked up? How were the other WG tables?

Care to email it to me so I can look at it?

I can send it to you when I get home.... At the day job right now.... YAY

Term, driveability is the reason the guy brought it to me. It would surge/buck during light loads/normal driving. The MALT was ramped up down low, and the other tables were wither left stock or ramped high on the top end to try to hold boost. What really pissed the customer off was when I showed him the compare file and all the DTCs were set to disable... All the misfire codes, some EVAP, and quite a few others that should not have been messed with. This tune was also commanding a .84 PE...
