HP Tuners
Why does my HP Tuners keep messing around with me? My scanner says it is connected but my Editor says it is disconnected. I had my Editor connected once and it claimed that I didn't have a license to my car.
This tuner is really starting to irritate me. I will keep looking up problems on my own, but I would really appreciate any help.

If it said you didn't have the ecu licensed you either don't, or you were opening a tune from and ecu you don't have licensed lol.
Did you put your application key into the Help -> License Info?

What exactly are you trying to do? If the scanner is connected it wont let you flash a tune or anything with the editor. Idk why it does that but you have to disconnect the scanner, at least I do on mine lol

I was trying to load a file onto my ECU that I just got from a member on here. I wanted to start data-logging. Now that I do think of it though, the file was from a 2007. I have the V.I.N and the ECU part number. Isn't there a way where I can take the calibration file from that one and use it on mine?

You need to do a read entire from whatever is on your ecu, save it, duplicate it on another storage space for backup (i do this with all tunes and logs anyways). Open that in HPT Editor, click compare, open compare file, you'll see 2 tunes in the top bar now, click compare, click view comparison log, right click, copy over differences, close compare file, save file, upload to car. This is assuming you have an lsj.

Yeah I have an LSJ. I think I understood what you said. Do I have to do that for every table that is different? I'm such a noob. Lol
THANKS, I'm going to now try and load it on my car. I did exactly what you told me to do. I'm pumped.

when you open the view comparison log just keep right clicking and selecting copy differences till theyre all gone, if you right click the very top of the list it should do them all at once.
when you write, do calibration only
who is sending you tunes

NEVER just flash on a tune from someone else's car. Easiest route to 1000 problems.
Always do what 05Slowline said... take a copy of your file, and edit it to look like the other file.
And similar to what he does, when saving someone's stock/initial tune, I'll set it as "Read Only", that way you can't accidentally write over it... so you always have a "Safe" tune to go back to.

I would rather not expose who it is. He is a very reputable poster on here. The ones I am loading on are from another very reputable poster\ tuner but I didn't receive them from them personally.
If the person decides to post who they are I would share. I'm relatively safe when it comes to just "swapping" tune files. This is my first vehicle I spent some decent money on so I don't just load files on and beat on the car.
I do appreciate you looking out for me. I respect all of your opinions.

Lol. I like that. Respect to me means.... a lot. Anyone that does right towards me gets a lot of respect from me. I have had a few encounters on this site and couldn't be any happier with the people. One little hint I will give is that they are now turbo. Ran a 13.4 with next to no mods on stock blower(M62)
