Vibrant finally has the Cobalt Exhuast!

Just received a shipment of vibrant items today. We found a great exhaust system on the load. It is a 3" vibrant cat back for the cobalt!!!

We are selling them for only $494.99 right now. PM us if you have any questions

We will get this item added to the site ASAP.

We hope to get in the 4-2-1 stainless header soon. We will post member pricing after they are shipping.

Thanks!

Who would be interested in this system for $474.99 + Shipping? We would need 5+ orders and then we would offer this price.

Again this is for the 2.0 SS SC Vibrant Exhaust, designed with a 3" pipe.

Why did they go with 3". Is that not too large for us?

What sort of gains are they claiming with this?

Can never be too large, it's just a little heavier.

Ahhh, Exhaust size is VERY important. You can easily go too large.

Not really, but I'd like to hear why you would think that.

With a setup like mine, I know I would rather have a 3" than a 2.5".

Yeah, I'm starting to have second thoughts about my Corsa 2.5. Kinda wished I went with at least a 3" myself. Oh well. Maybe after I put a high flow cat.

I have this system on my car has been onfor about 3 weeks now. Far better than the corsa touring I am trying to sell right now. Well worth the money sound is better 1 pipe with flange at muffler instead of 3 like the corsa. All polished as well. Well worth the money for anyone who wants a exhaust. i dont have any dyno numbers or pics either as my camera is broke.

Put a 4" exhaust on your car and go for a drive and let me know how it works.

Gains on a stock (or stockish) car will be the same as any other good flowing catback. I think they claim 10hp. I would imagine on a more heavily modified car this exhaust will really shine.

It would work great, except for the added weight and unnecassary cost of manufacturing 4 inch piping. Don't discourage people from buying a great exhaust because of something some buddy might have told you. There is absolutely no harm in putting a larger exhaust on a fuel injected car AFTER the O2 sensors. I just hate seeing bunk info floating around this forum like it has been lately.

As far as "back pressure" it does nothing but harms the performance of our engines. Honestly, how can you expect a scavenging effect out of your header and also want backpressure from your exhaust, you can't have both. Some reading material for ya on that: http://www.uucmotorwerks.com/html_pr...torquemyth.htm

Also the myth of going from small pipe to larger pipe decreasing air flow speed and hurting performance, what do you think happens when that exhaust hits the atmosphere?

Again, its hard to debate exhaust when you won't tell me why you think a 4 inch exhaust would hurt performance on our cars.

Edit: this is not correct, I found you can actually go too large on these cars.

I'm pretty sure that you're wrong witt, but I'll admit I don't have enough expertise in the matter to explain why

Well put and to your point a supercharged car should have the most free flowing exhaust you can get to maximize performance the supercharger can only put so much air into your engine in you can't get it out fast enough.

I'm not that great on it either, I just have yet to see any explanation on why a larger exhaust (larger than 2.5 inch anyway) would hurt the performance on our cars. It really bugged me to see someone say that the 3 inch could be easily too large and give no reason at all as to why, when in fact this is a great product made by an awesome company. I just wish Vibrant would have made this earlier when I was exhaust shopping.

The reason is simple really. It relates to exhaust backpressure vs. velocity. You want low backpressure but a high exhaust velocity. Too large of a pipe and you lose the later. I agree with the 3" not being overkill though.
