Shift Boot poll: Alcantara or leather?
Very simple poll here. As you probably have seen, we are about ready to launch our new short shift boot for the Cobalt SS/SC and SS/TC. We've always been manufacturing our shift boots in genuine leather, but we've recently acquired some Alcantara material for our Porsche project and we wanted to know how many of you guys would be interested in a shift boot made of this material?
For people not familiar with Alcantara, it's the same material used in many Porsche, BMW, Subaru and high end cars to wrap the steering wheel, make some seats inserts or shift boots and wrapped shift knobs. It's similar to suede. Same material as what you can see on this picture:
We would look at a dark grey color for this material. For leather, it's our usual black leather.
Please vote, we'd like to know your opinion on this!
Thanks,
Frank

Bump for updated first post with a picture comparing our first Alcantara shift boot (pictured is our Porsche shift boot) to our leather shift boot (pictured a Mazda leather boot).

We have access to a lot of different colors for Alcantara from our distributor. This color was selected for our Porsche 911 GT3 project to match the interior, but more than likely a darker shade would be selected for the SS to match with the rest of the interior.

We'd definitely go with a darker, close to black Alcantara for the SS shift boot. The final pricing has to be determined, we'll price it out when we have all the numbers from our Alcantara supplier!
Thanks for the feedback guys!

Went for a drive to get lunch earlier today, I have to say the Alcantara boot is really a nice fit in the car, gives it a nice luxury touch and the fitment is perfect!
