Shifter Extenders now available at TWM Performance!
Now available at TWM Performance, shifter extenders!
Brand new product available at TWM Performance are our 4” shifter extenders, made for different applications (Subaru, Honda, Mazda, Mitsubishi…) and engineered to accept both the factory shift knobs and aftermarket shift knobs.
TWM Performance shifter extenders are CNC machined in stainless steel.
Here is a picture of a 4” shifter extender installed on a Hyundai Elantra TWM short shifter, along with a stainless finish M1 Abrams shift knob:
Shifter extenders are the perfect addition for people who want to enjoy the precision and solidity of a short shifter, but keep the stock height, or even place the shift knob higher than stock. This is a great upgrade if you bring your car to the track for solo, lapping, auto-x or track racing. Less time spent between the steering wheel and the shifter = more time with both hands on the steering wheel. Combined with the throw of a short shifter and the extra mass of a weighted shift knob, this is the perfect combination for track days!
Extremely easy to install, our shifter extenders are available in the following thread sizes:
M10 x 1.5 (Honda/Acura)
M10 x 1.25 (Mazda, Hyundai, Mitsubishi, Nissan…)
M12 x 1.25 (Subaru, Toyota, Scion…)
If there is enough interest in our new shifter extenders, we’ll be looking at making them in different lengths as well as more finishes to match with our different shift knobs. The TWM Performance shifter extenders are available for $39.95 and also available in combo with any short shifters or any shift knobs.
You can place your order at the following link:

Thanks!

Thanks for all of the interest everyone!
M10x1.25
This past weekend I went to test the shifter extenders on some cars with Reverse Lockout mechanisms. Unfortunately I don't have any friends with a Cobalt SS/SC or TC However, I was able to test the shift extender on my friends 2006 Subaru WRX STi and it worked flawlessly. It does not interfere with any aspect of the RL mechanism.
Therefore I can say that the Cobalt SS/SC and TC will also be fine. All you need to have a smooth install with a functional RL is our Shifter Extender along with a threaded shifter shaft.
Note: *** The shifter extender will not work on a stock shifter shaft. You must have a threaded shifter shaft (TWM short shifter or other) in order for the shifter extender to work ***
If you guys/girls have any other questions, feel free to ask!
Thanks,
Patrick

They are $39.95 in the regular stainless steel finish!
Here are a couple of quick pictures I took this weekend. The first two are in a 2008 Honda Civic Si with our TWM Stage 2 Short shifter and a Satin Big Type R shift knob. The second two are in a 2006 Subaru WRX STi with a stock shifter and our TWM M1 Abrams in stainless steel with engraved shift pattern:

It will work on a threaded shifter. If the short shifter you have installed does not have threads (if the shift knob is just pressed on the shifter), it will not work.
Thanks for the orders, this product is quite a success so far!

If you have access to a die tools kit, there is usually a little device to measure thread sizes. Or the company should know what size they use on their shifters!

So, for this to work with the lockout, we would have to reach down approx 4" to use it? Or, is there a way we can run the shifter without the reverse lock (I hate the dang thing anyway).

Yes, you would have to reach down to use it. It takes a few time to get used to it, but when we tried it in the Subaru STi (which has the similar RL setup as the Cobalt), we ended up getting an easy way to do it pretty quickly.

Hmm, I want this, but if i could get rid of the rev lock at the same time, I would do it. you should make a shifter that I could trade mine in on, that has no rev lock, lol.

The reverse lockout part is also useful to guide the 5th gear, therefore we're not manufacturing a short shifter without this part.
Shipping for the extender is $8.95 to continental US.
