Bigger turbo, intercooler and clutch

Looking to do a big turbo upgrade. Looking for a ZFR or wr-2/3. Also looking for an intercooler and clutch to handle the big turbo. Have some stock parts (dp, headlights and mounts) to trade towards if interested. Also a set of sport lines freshly powder coated I would let go. Thanks

I recommend the EFR 6758 or the 7163, direct bolt on and excellent spool for around town driving.

You can use ZZP's standard size intercooler.

You can try the clutch masters Stage 4 from ZZP and see how that works. I don't recommend the KYS3 cause if it's engagement point, it's pretty bad.

I agree. Iv always had the 7163 in mind and possibly running meth as we don't have access to E in ontario. The WR's are kind of new to me but are they not much the same deal as the efr? Iv had nothing but good experiences with zzp so any business I can give them I will.

Iv always planned on the ky stage 3 over the clutch master.. Is the ky not more reliable? I think both are very good but from what iv read I thought the ky was the route to go? Correct me if I'm wrong. Totally open to people's opinions/suggestions

Thanks for your input

What kind of hp is your car putting out now? 7163 is a whole different ball game than a stock turbo and you will need lots of other things to be able to use it to its potential. Trans has to strong, suspension will need work, very good sticky tires also. There is a lot to think about other than clutch, turbo and intercooler. Just throwing it out there. I went from stock to 310whp to 380 and it's a big change, let alone going from 310-450. Choose wisely, as it's expensive. You can always go low boost for awhile.
What are your goals, what do you use the car for, does it get daily driven? What mods, tires, suspension do you have now?

I know the 71 is probably over kill for now but I was thinking run a conservative tune until I can do the trans and internals. I already have all the mounts in the car along with Powell hardcore bar. Planned on putting the sportlines in for springs. Im in need of tires already so I was thinking some sticky nittos will be what I go with.. Open to suggestions there.

Full turbo xs exhaust, k&n Sri, hard pipes and zzp canned tune is where im at now. After I do the big turbo it will be strictly for weekend use. Not a Dd but at the same time I don't want it to be a ticking time bomb if you know what I mean. 400-425 is my goal for now then more down the road. I don't want to get the 68 then a year later want to upgrade to the 71.. Thinking I should just spend the money now and run it mild with the ability to get more out of it in the future.

Appreciate the input

To be fair the 6758 will be harder on your trans and clutch than a 7163 at 400-425 power level. The torque curve will be smoother on the 7163 and that is a drivetrain saver. Obviously the 7163 can be pushed to higher and more destructive power levels if you want and that's when the trouble will start.
That being said the 6758 can be boost ramped to smooth it out. If your doing that you may has we'll spend the extra 200 and get the 7163 so you can turn it up in the future.

^this i have had a 7163 on my car for a year now. over 400whp still on stock clutch no slipping. the 7163 spool comes is so nice and smooth right around 3000. it doesn't have to be expensive to make good top end power.

Exactly what my plans were. Sure I'm under using the turbo for no but there's lots of room for growth right? The right deal on a wr or 68 and I would go that route but new I will go for the 71. Clutch wise what is everyone's opinion? I want quality and most of all reliability. I've read and heard a lot about clutch masters failing? I saw an ad in parts today for a clutch master that was a warranty replacement.. Kinda scares me

I wouldn't even recommend one, seems like someone has had issues with every single one on the market. Spec 3+, ky 4+ and one from clutch masters and south bend, can't remember if it's 4 or 4+. Those seem to be the most popular.

Someone is selling a southbend stage 4 on the forum right now. You won't find a better deal

I saw that one seems like a good deal but it's not the 4+. Is the 4 strong enough?

Stronger than stock but probably not enough if you plan to push it mid 400+

I have a brand new 6758 wr-3 for sale.

As for a clutch I would recommend a south bend stage 4/4+. I have the 4 and I daily my car and it is very close to stock pedal feel.

I picked up snails R for now.. Budget has shrunk since I originally started piecing together the build. Going to run the stock clutch until it's done then I'll put something in that will hold a zfr.
