2007 cobalt ss 2.0 sc
when ever it would rain, my daytime running lights would come on by themselves, sometime they would flicker. now they wont come on at all, along with my dash lights, speedo, tach, etc.
head lights both come on, high and low beam. brake lights work, as do blinkers.
fuses all check out.
from what i read, the drl relay is under the fusebox and is part of the main board.
anyone have a used one, and what do i expect to pay for this?
thanks much

When it rains, it's fine for them to come on. Clouds cover the light thus making it dark and your light sensor on your dash will see that it's dark and turn on your headlights. That's normal....
Now you have a completed circuit as of what I learned in my class. You have a wire somewhere touching ground and completing that circuit. Find that wire and fix it. Path to least resistance. You could have a wire touching another wire.

no, you dont understand. even with the key off, and out of the ignition. they are on or flickering, resulting in a run down battery. every time it rains i have to disconnect my battery lead. a wire touching ground would blow the fuse. the relay or a plug is getting wet, i would guess the relay since it no longer works and all fuses are good.
thanks though.

There shouldn't be relays in the box itself, just the normal removable ones on the top where the fuses are. Have you pulled the fuse/relay for DRL's and seen if the condition persists?

the underhood fuse box has a board underneath, it has relays built on to that board that are not user replacable.
going by my experience they control the drl along with the wipers, maybe other things. when it rains i have issues with drl and wipers coming on when the car is off and key removed.
my drl are working atm, i got rained on 2 weeks ago and had to disconnect the battery again because they would not go off.
i normally ride my motorcycle and only drive the car when it rains now.

Have you pulled the box apart? I've taken apart a bunch of them, and once you remove the connectors on the bottom there isn't much left.
I don't doubt that it's acting up, but I don't think there's any built in relays. Still probably shorting out when wet and needs to be replaced.
