05 Cobalt SS Vs 04-05 Srt-4 ACR

I am not one for posting war stories but i had to post because its the first decent runs i have had in awile. He told me the ACR's run around 1-2 lb more boost and have wider tires?? Anyway, he had a CAI and everything else was stock. I have the CAI and havent installed my borla yet so. We met up and decided to do some runs.

1) Dig- I had Bad launch... he took me by about 3 cars by 105

2) 20 roll- I cant even go WOT through 1st gear but we still were dead even by 85-95.

3) 35 roll- My sweet spot so had about 1/2 car length by 95-100

4) Dig- Both got a descent launch and stayed DEAD even until the the end of my third gear.

All and all they were really good runs. The kid was pretty cool and we agreed both of us were dead even. Both of us had a passenger as well. All of us noticed the shorter gearing of the srt-4 compared to the SS. He had to shift before me in every gear so we were even until he shifted and i still had about 500 rpms until the limiter and in just that little difference i gained about a fender to a half a length on him in every gear.

P.S. If anyone has info about the specs on the acr just post it because he told me with just the cai he was making a little more than 250 horsepower?

as best as i can remeber the ACR makes the same numbers but has a smaller but better tire for handleing and a tighter suspension

2005 only ACR SRT-4 comes with 16" wider wheels, adjustable suspension, and badging. That is it. Nice races.

Good Kill. Those wider tires, even though they look gay, helps them out a lot from a dig.

This is what I found:

230 hp in 2004, the Mopar Performance Stage 1 turbo kit offering 10 more ponies for $399, and a Stage 2 kit upping the power to 260 hp for $999 or 265-hp for $1599. Stage 3 pushes the SRT4's power peak to 310 hp and 325 lb-ft of torque. (Or 355 hp and 365 lb-ft with 100-plus octane gas!)

A buddy of mine has a 2005 SRT-4 and I believe what he told me that they make 230hp and 250ft lbs of tq stock.

He'd maybe make 250 if he had Mopar Stage 1 and the Intake. But just an intake, he's not making 250hp, well not to the wheels at least.

I would hate to run into a ACR SRT-4 with a stage 3!

More displacement. They have almost a half liter more volume in all four cylinders compared to us. Their displacement is 2.4 liters whereas ours is 2.0.... A quote i heard from i think svt performance.com... "There's no replacement for displacement!"

Not really sure. It's a 1/2 of a HEMI j/k. 250ft lbs of tq is a lot for a 4 cyl. stock.

Nice runs man! There was a guy, looked like he was 15 or 16 lol, at a local car show a few weeks back w/ a white ACR SRT-4. He was kind of weird, and he had one of his friends ask me to race him at least 6 times...literally. I asked what he had done to it and he said just an intake...So I figured why not just for the fun of it. We went only once, from a stop...and well I had him up until I hit 2nd, lol, then he just flew by about 3+ cars. Come to find out, he had stage 1 w/ some bolt-ons and a huge FMIC. Jerk.

air intakes (aftermarket ie AEM, INJEN, PERRIN etc..) all do nearly squat for the srt, also ACR only has badging, suspension upgrade, wheel upgrade (although 16 inches its a wider wheel) and the seats are already setup for a 5 point race restraint system....back to the intakes...they only make our cars gain about 1-3hp at the most....reason being PVO (performance vehicle operations) knew what they were doing when hey designed the stock intake of the srt-4 as it flows well into 350hp very well, essentially its such a good design people only get the intakes to hear the turbos spool more (noise) similar to when you guys do it you can hear the SC much louder, or they do turbo upgrades wich may require a true 3" intake system. I still have my stocker but replaced the filter with a K&N.
but you dont/wont really notice any REAL impressive gains unless running higher hp numbers like into the 400hp range. Other than that its the stock boost as regular srt-4's...

i couldnt agree with you more... if the kid said he was around 250hp, he was lying... in order to get to that range, you need more than stage one and an intake... my mod list in my sig (minus the parts i havent installed yet) puts me in the 260-270 range

id say mopar catback, AGP WGA, and stage 1....he was 2 of the 3 because all 3 would put him probably in the 265+ range
