05 Stage 3 Cobalt SS/SC vs. 2nd gen eclispe turbo vs. RX-8
Well it was a fun night. I was looking for a place to park at the local fair that was going on, so i pulled into the restaurant to look for a spot when i noticed this 2nd gen eclipse with a turbo pulling out so i was like what the hell my g/f can wait 10 more minutes for me to show up. So i proceed to follow him out onto the main road, him being infront of me heading towards the red light when this RX-8 pulls up to him in the left lane and gives us both a little ZOOM ZOOM, and im thinking to myself, the eclipse might be an even match but the rx-8 i just laughed at lol. So both of them take off and the eclipse pulls on the RX-8 giving me enough room to pass and pull up even with the eclipse. We both lined up and went from around a 50-60mph roll and i just destroyed him put about 3 cars on by the end of 3rd gear which is around 100mph. So proceed to slow down to see if he wants to talk and all of a sudden the RX-8 does a little ricer flyby while im in low rpms in 4th gear so i downshift to 3rd and punch it, i catch up to the rx-8 and pull on him only about 1 car cause we were getting ready to go down a big hill and i really didnt feel like doing 120 down a hill lol. So all in all the eclipse wasnt that bad, it was pretty even until i hit full boost in 3rd gear then i just pulled away from him. Fun stuff. Everytime i race in this car i love it more and more, ive only put abount $1700 in performance mods with my intake, exhaust and stage 3 and it just handle everything that gets thrown at it, at least so far except for my buddy's turboed 3rd gen eclipse, but i also havent raced and sti's or evo's though

I know this is directing the forum completely away, but if your going to buy a $30,000 car, why don't you just get a used 01' or 02' Vette and kill all those cars in a roll or a dig. Stock C5 Vette's run anywhere from 12.9 to 13.2 E.T.'s. $1500 dollars and you'll have low 12's on street tires. Don't even use the "better MPG" crap on me either, I can get 25mpg on the Vette with ease.
Might I also add that the Vette has an incredibly smooth ride while still having a .93 skid pad and a chassis that doesn't like to break loose in the corners.

Well ok, I forgot about the weather. However, the Vette is EASIER for me the handle than most other cars, such as my mother's Infinity M35. It has a traction control device in the braking system which helps some in bad weather, or if you want to launch the car from stand still and you DONT want to burn your tires up. IT IS indeed a two seater, however, it is just as practical as a Mazda RX-8. Just my thoughts. I'll shut up now.
