everyone will say the scion including myself, but the only time I've ever given in to a street race was against some kid in a tc and I pulled on him from about 15mph to 80. Dont know why, wasnt a drivers race because we both had auto trans. he gave me a thumbs up and I felt ashamed for giving in. I have cai, if that makes a diff.

The Scion tC's with manual transmissions are pretty quick, but the automatic ones aren't very peppy at all. A 5-speed Cobalt 2.2 would easily walk a tC auto, however, if both were manual it would be much closer, with the edge going to the tC seeing as it has a 15HP advantage.
In terms of price though, the tC is much more comparable to the Cobalt SS 2.4. However, as far as performance goes, the SS will destroy the tC in every category. Even in a race of a 5-speed tC vs. a 5-speed SS 2.4, the Scion would get hammered.

SCION... hands down against the LS. Sorry.
Now our SS/SC will beat the TC Turbo... I have the priveledge of knowing that first hand lol...
They sound nice though... but their 3rd gear sucks *****...

There is a Tc running 17lbs of boost pumping out 424whp and 376 lb-ft torque with a bolt on turbo, 3" exhaust, 650cc fuel injectors. It's doing 12's and they are hoping to make 11's.

Well, I dont know for a fact about HP side/side to the T/c... but I do know that I heard the blow off... the whine... the classic turbo sound... and when we stopped after going down 287 at about 140mph... he showed the turbo... then darted to go race another kid. I pulled ahead of him in 4th gear... and hit 126 in 4th then shifted to 5th and still had room to go.

my friend Andrew has a new scion, im not sure if its 05 0r 06 but his is auto trans and i beat him easily, and consistently when we raced.
He can drive well so i know it wasnt my driving skills or anything.
Paper to paper a scion is faster, but gm underates there cars.
On the road however, again, i beat his automatic pretty easily.
I have a manual however, and he has an automatic.

i raced a 5spd tc against my cav when it was n/a , and my cav is a auto , and i killed it
around here most of the 5spd tc's ive seen have been lucky to run very high 15's

lol, sounds right!!!!!! here on guam, my friend with injen cai, carbon fiber hood, and a full cat-delete exhaust from the stock header back could only get a 16.0 @ 86mph. pretty crappy!!!!! needless to say he was called out by a celica gts and the gts just barely edged him out at the end. i'll even post the vid:

reading this last night i talked my buddie in to racing me out by my house...
" dont worrie i live in the boonies and i have a 2 mile strait road so nobody but are selfs were indanger..
he has a cat back exaust
i have a k&n air filter and and a sweet ass exaust tip that adds 4000 horse power!!
movin on
we lined up from the dig and i pulled away on him up until about 3rd then he took off on me
we lined up from a 20 mp role " witch was sweet it put me right in my pwer band"
i took off on him up until about 105..." think about it"
really it was a drivers race because we have a lot of fpt and they dont really dont for the horse power they are putting out..
