We should get this guy to go to the track! We should try and set a date. I'm only 25 minutes from Union Grove. I'm not saying my cars fast because it's not but I'd like to see a Cobalt that's faster than mine at Dagrove for once!

People are going to come into this thread all pissed off about spending time with the family...

I don't know how the weather was in MN but we could not have asked for a better weekend in WI! It was awesome.

WX was fine all but Sunday where it on & off rained west of the Twin Cities. I was supposed to test fire a Iver Johnson revolver that I have been restoring, but the rain put an end to that. The YL drove her Sky around and I looked at my RL sitting in the garage as usual Pretty decent weekend

What were you up to over the weekend? Dust off anymore Cobalt girlie's

I was at the lake all weekend. It was the perfect memorial day weekend.

I am also tuning an E85 SS/SC. So now there will be one more blower car on the road to beat up on the turbos...

Good question! 3 Reasons.

1. I did not want to make the fuel system upgrades in order to run the man pulleys on the TVS with E85.

2. I wanted to see what a properly built M62 LSJ was capable of.

3. I can't seem to get the term "Twincharged" out of my head.

So I sold the TVS with the intentions of taking a year off of mod'ing to do some more research on what I wanted as my "final" setup. I'll be honest, with all the Turbo, Turbo, Turbo talk on this forum over the past 2-3 years I was thinking about jumping ship.

But now that I have experienced the powerband difference between the Blower and Turbo cars there is no way I could ever go straight turbo. Turbos put out big sexy tq/hp numbers but I would rather have a blower car with less of each because it is going to win in a race.

ppl are stupid if you think blowers are better than turbos. It's plan fact turbos are more efficient. Blowers are parasitic, they require HP to make HP while turbo induction is fed off of exhaust gasses. Turbos now a days have vastly improved. If you get a turbo car that has too much lag then the user picked the wrong turbo for his application. Problem is most ppl don't know how to read a compressor map and just stick a large turbo on and expect huge gains.

turbos > superchargers anyday. its proven fact, get over it. the majority of the fast cars on this site are turbo.

See all I see in that statement is Turbo, Turbo, Turbo.

Not ALL Turbos are better then ALL Superchargers. And not all Superchargers are better then all Turbos. Keep an open mind.

The truth is that as a factory power adder the M62 is just as good as the K04.

how many times do I have to say this, turbos are more efficient! Bottom line! Pound for pound, they produce better VE and TE. Superchargers are parasitic and require HP to make HP. Why do you think a lot of blown alcohol/nitromethane dragsters are converting to twin or single turbo setups? Because it's more efficient and it doesn't take HP to turn a pulley to create boost.

I had an instructor that races professionally, he has a 57' Chevy Bel Air that was a fully blown nitromethane car running 6.80s in the 1/4mile and he is completely converting to twin turbo setup because he can acknowledge that turbos are better. The blower on his car took 900hp just to turn the damn thing over! Now tell me, is that really efficient? Not only will his car now make more power but getting rid of the huge supercharger will also shave weight.

I'm not trying to bash on the LSJ at all, it's just ppl have to realize turbos are better.

Question

Does the exhaust opening thru the exhaust turbine housing, restrict flow in any way on a turbo motor?

ok 6.80s in the 1/4 mile, thats fine, but really? how much could her improve with a turbo, i mean you dont see very many 5 second bel airs out there, so really, hes not going to gain that much, id like to hear the results of that conversion set up cuz i really dont think its going to do much for him
