13's a 13 in my book BUT in my book you gotta be able to hit a time twice for it to count.

My personal opinion is if youre running around saying "I have a 13 second car" You better be able to hit 13s atleast 70-80% of the time.

You guys need to focus on trap speed, not the ET time. Trap speed shows the power/weight ratio of a car. ET time is almost always a result of the launch/grip. S2000 trap between 97-100...so does the Cobalt. From my experience with both, the S2000 will win with a hard launch mostly from the fact it's rear wheel drive, but the Cobalt will win slightly from a roll because of its torque spread. Because the S2000 is rwd, it generally gets slightly better 1/4 times.

So basically,

Which ever car has the better driver from a dig will win. From a roll the Cobalt has a clear advantage and will easily match the top end of the S2000. But I know people who suck at roll racing too so the driver will matter there also.

Keep in mind that is when compared to the updated S2000, they changed engine a little (cams) in last years model it lost a little top end HP but gained low end TQ. The earlier model S2000 will lose from a dig or roll.

This is a great example of it amounting to the driver. My first run was a 15.11. I had never been to a track before and I was short shifting. My 2 following runs were 14.7.

I said before and I will say it again: Do the race, no bets, just run for fun. If you can post a video regardless of the outcome.

I hate how these threads turn into huge arguements. A race isn't all about the car, it is about the driver and how they control the car.

If you want to race someone, don't ask if you will win, just go out there and do it. Who cares if you lose? Don't get me wrong, I love the feeling of victory, but you have to be able to accept that there is always someone bigger and better out there.

If you don't like what you read, you don't have to read it again. Move on to the next thread and don't attack or belittle the person/s posting. Read the top of the main page. "our mission is to provide a friendly atmosphere for all members and visitors of this network." By attacking or belittleing people you are defeating the goal of the site: to meet people with a common interest and seek advice/help on stuff.

That is the end of my rant.

the s2000 is only 210 to the wheels. i have raced one and it was very close, i only had half a car on him from a dig(no roll race). now... if your friend knows how to launch it right and he is a good driver you might have some catching up to do. who knows what will happen...

I disagree. I have beaten a lot of 4.6 mustang's. And the honda s2000 is pretty much just as fat as our cars are. So i think i stock s2000 can take a stock 4.6 mustang. But 100 bucks on it.

How much TQ to the wheels do they have? Kinda funny because a guy around town just traded in his honda civic for a s2000 and i want to race him bad! I live in a small town, and i can say that i have the fastest 4 cyl in my town. I want to make sure that this is true.

Well if you know how to drive you car than give him hell. But from a dig its not going to be the easiest thing in the world if your stock.

I think if you can get a better launch, you'll take an S2000 from a dig. IF anything THEY will have the harder time launching due to horrible torque.

Sorry I must disagree. Yeah they have no TQ but they got crazy gearing and RWD. All they have to do is rev it up dump it and wait for the RWD to hook. If the cobalt launches above 2500 rpms on stock rims your launch is screwed. Plus they have three short gears to get up to speed nicely. If anything there geared more for a dig race than a roll. But you know what race him and find out.

ok my buddy with a s2000 dynoed his at 202whp@8300 rpm's. his torque was 147lb/ft@7500 rpm's. this is all stock. there are some numbers for you to go off of besides the ones that you find online. factor in the weight(which i dont know), and you have a pretty good idea of what a race will be like. against a skilled s2000 driver, from a dig, it will be very close, like a few tenths of a sec. difference. i agree with the gearing comment about the s2000. that with RWD will make it a contender for sure.

Yeah honda can catch you off guard with there power numbers. Cars look like poo on paper but then there gearing, weight, and stock wheel sizes come into play and they do alright.
