Nice Dyno graph... I'm assuming this is the automatic verison but to only yield 8hp and 5tq for an $1,100 exhaust system yah... the aftermarket must obviously suck.

he's still trying to find that "paperwork" and probably listening to more stories from daddy to tell him how fast his RX-8 is.

Top Gear (J. Clarkson) said that it was the "Best Overall Car" he had driven that year..
That it really showed that the guy in charge of the RX-8 Project raced cars.
That it was UGLY but Unbelieably easy to drive Very Very Fast.

yeah, this guy really needs to get his numbers right, especially the torque. I had my mazda in for new brakes this Saturday and decided to take one of the new RX-8's for a test drive. Damn those are fun. Not that fast in a straight line, but corner very well. The renesis is an awesome engine, very smooth and sounds cool as hell when in high revs. Best part about it is that redline alarm going off when you "think" you are nowhere near redline!

^^ yeah i hear you...the thing reminds me of a street bike, the way the engine winds out like that.
i agree that these cars hug the road like no other, but sorry with an equally skilled drive in both cars, no way is any RX-8 faster than a 2.0 SS

The encryption on the 8 has been a tough nut to crack, and since it controls just about everything, the aftermarket is useless. I haven't been paying attention to the 8 world lately, but I'm sure they figured out how to tap into the ECU for tuning.
One notable is that the Rensis engine is capable of 250 to the crank/shaft NA. The RX-7 engine was not nearly as powerful with out the turbos. When Mazda gets around to FI on the 8 the car will be quite impressive, I know I'll be one of the first on line to buy it!

US regulations require that your cat last x amount of years, the JDM tune doesn't meet this requirement. Mazda's fix was run the thing rich, and save a ton of money. As for the exaust, if you take the entire RX-8 exaust off and leave it off, your only gaining a couple of ponies to the wheel. The ECU senses the extra flow, and throws the engine timing off to correct.
