I had a run in with a G35 coup tonight. It was pretty sweet, he flew past me with some other car, and I figured I'd join. I caught up with him, and got next to him and gave him a tapped the gas a little jsut to jump out in front of him, and as soon as I did that I heard his engine rev up. We went from 40 to about 100, to the end of my third gear basically, and we were dead even the entire time. Front bumper to front bumper. I stopped at third because when i shifted into fourth he started to walk away haha besides 100 is fast enough.

i saw a g35 today and wanted to tag along with it but i'd figure it'd leave a 2.4 in the back burners

They really arnt that fast of a car for the money. They were supposed to be more of a status type of thing. Good run.

That car is beautiful and is definately a nice ride, and has decent performance. Status has nothing to do it. People buy cars because they want them (most of the time). I wouldnt buy Volvo C70 because its a fast car, I would buy it because its a nice coupe and same for the g35 even though it would smoke a c70. you bought a cheap economy car with some good performance because you wanted good performance not because you wanted plush leather and impeccable road manners. bah this is a dead argument even before it becomes an argument.

i would have to say this is very accurate. i ran my friends g35 sedan with 290 horse. we were dead even.

well i ran one when i was stock and i had him by 1 1/2 cars, no problem taking down a g35.

I rece my friends g35 sedan and always pull on him not by too much though he has cai and exhuast i just have cai.

Thats basically what I'm trying to say. A g35 is a nicer car seeing it's an infiniti most people that sre looking for pure speed would probably go for something else.

Status does have to do with it because to an extent its a status symbol, all luxery brands are, you think a BMW badged as a chevy would sell for near the price?

I would say that pure car enthusiasts buy cars mostly because they like the way they were built or how they look or what they do on a track, not because of a name. Status comes with a name, enthusiasm comes with the cars attributes and characteristics. But hey if he bought it because he liked the name and how much it is worth then so be it. He is probably happy either way.

The G35 is a totally different car with almost the same stock stats as the Cobalt SS/SC.

Even though I have seen one at the drag way run 14.1 @ 102 mph and under the hood it looked stock. I dunno what they have out for tuning those things so I dunno if it was stock.
