06 SS/SC vs. LT1 camaro
well i cruising the local strip. i was getting ready to leave and i see a LT1 camaro. i pull up next to him at a light and im staring him down...i wanted to race so bad because i didnt get any runs in during the night. he looks over and gives me a lil rev. light turns green and i pace him down to the end of the strip. we both turn around and come up to another light. so we are in the front sitting there. i look over and him and give him the "nod". light turns green and i wasnt sure he was gonna go. all i hear is "VRROOOM" and some tires squeeling. so i get on it and spin my tires thru first with lil wheel hop (didnt get on it hard). i shift to 2nd and we are doing 40mph. we are neck and neck. i started to pull on him. i shut down at 80 because i dont really need a ticket nor getting my car taken away. i ended up pulling 2 car lenghts on him when i shut down. i was very impressed. i know the LT1's are good for 275hp but damn...i destroyed him. i dont think he had any mods done and he seemed like he knew how to drive. when we shut down, i kept going straight and downshifted to slow down some. next thing i know, he makes a sharp turn onto a side street to avoid me. god i love this ss/sc. my car is stock except for the airbox mod.

my race was even until about 4th gear when he started slowly walking me. we went from a roll though at like 30. I know he had at least exhaust. believeable. LT1's are quick but in stock form they are no faster then an SRT-4 imo

thats weird.. this one had a special package on it. but it was an LT-1 with a hurst shifter and when you poped the hood, it said 300 hp.. def a 1996 tho

I don't think GM has many vehicles where they post the HP ratings under the hood. Sounds aftermarket to me.
Oh and just so you know, when you have less than a few posts under your belt and come into the kill section calling out someone's kill, it looks somewhat trollish...........

its possible. LT-1s are old, a stock one.. might be pushing 260-280 hp with more weight than a Cobalt
a new SS/SC could be pushing almost 220 hp.. it could happen. but it would be close

im sure some z28s give you problems. but they could be modded. this one was stock.. apparently.. it could also have alot of miles.. theres a long list of possibilities. it could happen

Stock for stock it will be close, I raced a 95 z28 auto. He had flowmaster exhaust w/o cats, and K&N CAI. I was bone stock at the time. He had a passenger, and i didnt. We went from a 40 kick, and stupid me hit the rev limter in 2 gears. If it wasnt for that it would have been about even.

Bs...
That is BS, I smoked a guy in a LT1 also. We pulled over he told me what he had, it was the LT1 engine. He told be that he even tried but he had no chance. The race was from the Dig. He could not beleive the power my car had. His was stock and so is mine. I think this is number three on here that has beatin a LT1.

I had two perfectly maintained LT1 F-Bodies.
1996 Firebird Formula and a 1994 Trans Am GT. In the 1/4 they were both low 14 second cars. They are comparable to a 99-04 Mustang GT w/manual in the 1/4 but the LT1 will eat a GT alive top end.
Like LS1's all LT1's had the same power output regardless of ratings.

Unless its a prestine LT1, then its a good race for a SS/SC, a LT1 in its prime will beat a SS, but most of them now a days have 100K or so miles on them and are starting to show their wear.

Noone here is knocking on LT1's. I think their just simply stating that because its an credible adversary. Its like when a young fighter is trying to make a name for himself, but in order to do that he will need to fight a known worthy adversary. Someone who has been there and done that. I think thats great knews to hear. It definately builds my confidence in our cars. Im a camero fan. I will be buying the new camero but for now I'll give my full support to what ever I own now.
