06 SS/SC vs New Mazda Speed 3
I'm on the highway minding my own business, sittin at the speed limit with the cruise on when the red wagon pulls up next to me. He starts revving it up so we both down shift and bunch it. I'm doin about 50 and downshift to second and take off. I put about 3 car lengths on him and was still pulling pretty hard. We slowed down on the highway almost to a stop and he asked me what I had done and I told him. He was stock aside from the blow off valve. (There was NO ONE on the road) So we went from a stop, and I spun first, spun second, and spun part of third, and eventually caught traction. By 110 I had about a car on him haha. I expected better. We pulled over and talked for a few. We exchanged numbers and he's going to come to englishtown with us next time we go. Very nice guy.
I must say that thing was great from a stop, but up top it really was dissapointing.

yeah I know, im actually testing that, I lowered it by 40 percent from likr 4 to 6k and it was to slow, now I have it at 80 percent, but I get too much spin, next im gonna try like 60 percent and see how that does.

I figured for sure that the 3rd gear would be strong. Those cars are detuned in 1st and 2nd gear for traction. 3rd gear is when they actually use all 263hp that they claim. Good to know though.

I wonder how I would stack up in my 2.2!? LOL! Nice kill...I was a little worried when I read the first thread about 'em...Sounded mean, but I guess it was alot of hype?

I like the MazdaSpeed 3. those things are sexalicious. The aftermarket is going to take those cars far.
I heard Mazda overrated the MS3's 263. Its much less to the wheels. I heard that they're in between the SS/SC's and SRT-4's power range, and their weight brings them down even more.

It better smoke a 2.4 n/a with 263 turbocharger hp and 280ft/lbs tq!
It's not in anywhere near the same class as my 171hp n/a engine.
It's a $24k car, mine was $17.4k - different price class too.
Cool car though.
If it was under 20k I'd have bought one in a heartbeat. It's not in the budget though.

well, then it's basically just another car in our class. I thought it would dominate over the ss/sc and srt-4's. But I'm glad I was wrong. Hopefully someone will have one somewhere here in omaha and I'll come across it. Would be fun to see what a stock ss/sc and a stock ms3 could do.

50mph is probably the worst possible roll speed you could run those cars at... Doesn't want to downshift to second because of torque limiting, so he stays in third and just gets smoked. once they can tune that torque limiting that car will be just insane for the price. 280 ft lbs = fun. well maybe not fun to launch....

ummm... i was going to buy the mazda instead of the cobalt... and to be honest the mazda was or at least seemed faster then the cobalt during test drives... from zero to 60mph they were about the same...but from there on especially 3rd they were faster....not to call you a lier but i find it hard to believe that 2 very very VERY similar cars interms of speed would lose by 3 car lengths (thats a lot in the racing world) UNLESS the driver of the mazda sucks some serious ass in racing his car...

Injen Intake, Vibrant Catback
SFPH 3", 42#'s, Custom Tune..Thanks Adam
.... 3", intake, exhaust, and a tune....this is not even close to stock vs stock, why are people talking about the ss/sc being just as fast and what not...

come on man. No one is saying all that. Hopefully I'll come across one and we can do some races from all elements and I'll let you guys know the turn out. Mine will be stock for a little while, maybe.

First of all, the MS3's engine is brand new - after about 30,000 miles that motor will open right up and I would not be surprised if that alone shaves .7 off the 1/4 mile. Mazda's are notrious for requiring break in

your an idiot.... 30000 miles to open up an engine????? use your brain
