06 ss/sc vs turbo celica
k guys i got a quick question seeing as its too cold to race the ******, cuz my tune will prolly blow my motor, but heres my question
hes running a 2001 GT Toyota celica with a nice t3/t4 turbo 55 trim, running 7 or 9 psi w full 3 inch exhaust
will he beat me with my
custom tune, 3 inch boost pulley, full wheel hop mods, full 3 inch catless exhaust, CAI
cuz if its a drivers race i man aswell throw on my 2.6 boost pulley, 60lbers, heat exchanger, and custom meth kit, cuz in all reality, i dont wanna lose, but meh its only my brother in law, hes talking smack that hes gonna eat me alive
he doesnt know about my 2.6 pulley and supporting mods yet though either

As you sit now with the 3" pulley and full exhaust, I'd say that your low end loss in tq may equal his turbo lag from the start. With or without the 2.6 I believe you would take him, but I'd put the 2.6 on and let him know whats up.

Hes runing low boost making between 195-240whp, take into consideration the celica weighs nothing like 2500lbs, the stock motor on the celica can hold about 11psi safely, i say it would be a good race, race and find out, btw i use to own a celica.

I raced an older celica that was turbo charged. the older body style that resembled a ford probe, ya know what i mean? I was kinda dissapointed by the power it made. He couldn't have been pushing much boost tho the waste gate started screaming as soon as he hit the gas. needless to say I won, but it was fun

I like the older body style the 94-99, i had an 04, the thing to watch out for with the older celicas, was the 94-99 celica gt-four, made in japan, never came to america, all wheel drive turbo.

you're saying that you believe a greddy kit will add 130 hp????
the new SI's stock have about 170 hp (my brother has one).... throw on a turbo with no supporting mods and you maybe have 220, 230 hp
i say the SS/SC wins with stage 2, 2.8", and exhaust/cai

i disagree...if that turbo kit is done right that si will be deadly and put down far more than 230fwhp, probably around 260+

Well after reading this thread, at my moms house, I was on my way home, and what did I run into. A right-hand drive Celica GTFour.
I researched it a bit after I played, figure it was the 5th Gen ST185 running around 205hp stock either from the UK or Japan. Alot of conflicting numbers I found, but it was WAY better off the line, as traction > cold Pirelli's. Had great power until the top end where I started pulling away slowly. Couldnt tell of any mods, but he turned off on me after a 3rd go.
Quick car for probably 15 years old!

even if thats true...$5k for turbo + $22 for civic = $27k
250 hp is NOT a lot for $27K

omg you are starting to sound like the evo owners....stop while you still can because you will just start a dumb argument with no end. there are a few reasons.
1. 250 WHP will be faster in that civic than in a cobalt.
2. 250whp is actually closer to 275hp.
3. i can make the same argument with any car. hell i could build a 5.0 or an old camaro bought for 8 grand, built with 6 grand and run in the high hundreds (say 800) and rape any car you put up against me, but i dont say your 205hp isnt high for 20ish grand.
just stop it you will only look like an idiot.
