Of course a 2.4l won't beat an SI at 80 mph. that's where the Honda engine gets most of it's power at just as our engines have hit the ceiling.
But the discussion here is a SS/SC beating an SI....which it should do every time. I mean, you have a supercharger and they are NA. If you didn't beat them I would buy a new car.

I had a highway run in with an Si coupe. All the way through 4th gear we were side by side, no one budged. Once I was at redline and shifted to fifth, he started to creep away slowly. I am fairly confident that from a dig, or a non highway speed roll, my car would win. Mods are in my sig.

Well I've beeten several SI's in my 2.4 SS but I will say I had to work to keep ahead unless the driver missed his shifts. They ARE NOT TURDS! For an N/A car they are quick and as much as I hate to admit it their looks have been growing on me.

Now true if I slap a blower on my 2.4 its OWNAGE! But modded cars shouldn't count as you can make anything fast.

they run like a low 15 high 14 stock, I dont see intake and exhaust really bringing them nito the 13s but I dunno hondas. Also... If a car makes 200HP N/A of course it will be a car that makes 200hp Supercharged when you add boost to the N/A car... Stock for stock you will beat a SI. However if you go put 5 grand in F/I in a honda and put a twin screw and all that on a S/C for the same money you will still win the cobalt or should be fairly close.

A lightly modded Si would not destroy a lightly modded ss/sc,no way in hell. Okay, put a turbo on the Si....put a turbo on a cobalt ss/sc...Cobalt >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Si. Some people here can run a 13.5 with full bolt ones. A lightly modded Si can keep up with a stock ss/sc probably

You can not possibly sit here and say a Si with an intake, and header back exhaust would get into the low 14's as the ss/sc can do stock. And if we're going mod for mod, then even more. Put an intake on the ss/sc and header back exhaust SC > Si, bottom line.

I don't much think the 2.4L's are too far behind the Si's. Thats more in their range,

And I say again, SS/SC's are UNDERRATED. They have between 210-220WHP.

I will grant you that an SI is better than a 2.2l cobalt, and it is slightly better than a 2.4l cobalt. But SO slight that it's a driver's race anywhere between 0-80mph. And the SI is much harder to drive.
In no way am I knocking the the Honda. It's an excellent NA four banger. But so is the 2.4

I'm sure they take well to mods but when you start talking about slapping on a turbocharger, I've got news for you. Hahn's turbo for the 2.4l ran a 13.7 on stock tires in an AUTO. That makes sense when you think about what their stock times are.

i hate this argument with a passion... why IF? he doesn't have a turbo, so how can you use this argment? what if the OP puts on a big ass turbo? then he'll win again! what if the other person does an engine swap? then HE'LL win. see my point? if it's not on the car, than there's zero point in saying "well if he did xxxx he would win". until he does x, don't use that argument.

Torqueless wonders= Si city driving, listen honda boy, theres are reason honda fans don't come on this site trolling anymore,is because most of their points are factless.this was a beaton subject last year,so unless you are TCing or Scing your hondas, they are not in the same ball park as a ss/sc.
Don't forget GM under rates these cars, scroll through and find out what members are putting to the pavement on this site,Yes! I said to the pavement not flywheel.LOL!!!!!whats the drivetain loss on as SI once its on the mustang dyno?????????????????????????????????

hmm i mean a it mite be a good race for a good 5spd driver on a 2.2 if modded...stock the si will kill the 2.2. i think if u have some good mods on the 2.2..u can def show them some stuff. i ran a 4door si stock and walked on it...then the 2door had intake and some loud ass exhaust or muffler. still with my modded 2.4 walked on that too. so i mean i used to have a 2.2(until someone drove 70mph into me in a 35,but thats a different story). when i was at the track i ran a 16.7 stock(auto). i think a heavily modded auto mite keep up with them..a fully modded 5psd and a good driver mite keep up with a stock si..or slightly modded...our cars are quite under rated for what they are...with no f/i

the problem is honda uses compressed harded lead on all their emblems which easily adds on 1000lbs, this mere phenomenon explains two things ive seen:

1. Putting the word "Honda" on a car automaticlly makes it slow
2. debaged honda civics are the fastest cars on the road

im not posting an argument...The op argued that si's are slow which yes they are but what if the op just had header downpipe exhaust and a intake, and the si had the same i think it would be a close race without going to a smaller pulley

Nay, still, the SI only has like 180 something to the wheels, SS/SC still has 215-220whp. And LOTS more torque. A few bolt ones, h/dp/e on both cars, SC would still rape him.

yeah unless Si's are flexing with some "muscle" then theyre gonna be easily taken down

the ss/sc can eat it as a snack

HOWEVER

it is impressive how honda somehow got 200hp out of a n/a 2.0L engine, but where's that torque honda?

is it just me or do all japanese imports have low torque?

Honda Civic Si's are rated at 197 crank hp, and no, not all Japanese imports have low torque. Look at the Evo....and the 1st and 2nd generation eclipses....Subaru Impreza....Nissan 350Z.....Legacy GT, Scion tC, Toyota Supra/Lexus IS300/Lexus SC300, Toyota MR2 Turbo *continues on for a while*.

Hondas generally have low torque, but also get some impressive fuel economy numbers, along with Toyota.i thinkthe SI gets its hp numbers from a more agressive cam profile and, Gm tech told me GM could have done the same with the 2.4, but said,gm customers like their torque
