07 Cobalt ss/sc vs 03 nissan maxima se
Hey guys, my brother in law is CONVINCED his maxima will smoke my little cobalt (when i get it...)
Ive never driven his maxima but anyway, he wants to bet $100.00 on the race, so i figured id come her to ensure my money was safe....
What do you guys think stock vs. stock?

A friend of mine has a 1992 Nissan Maximum SE and I smoke his ass every time. He knows there is no chance in hell he can keep up. He is stock and all I have is a Injen CAI. Just blow his doors off and he'll shut up.

they are surprisingly quick, my last car was a 97 maxima se 5-speed and i ran a 15.6 consistently, thats with 190hp an 03 has what, 227? or in 03 did they move it up to 255/265? if he is auto then you win but if u arent a good driver and he has a 6speed it could be close, i knew a kid who ran a 14.1 (or so he says)in his, with a drop in K&N i thought i've seen a 15.2 in car mags. racing from a roll would deff be your advantage. i guess the real question is, is his auto or stick?

Hey, I noticed ur in Calgary.
You should come to Race city when you get your cobalt on friday nights. Cobalt SS S/C's run about 15.1 stock up here. Keep an eye on the regional forum too!
as to the subject of this thread.... it should be a good win assuming you dont spin too much off the line and you dont miss your shifts.

Yeah we were thinking one shot deal, im not too worried about missing shifts or anything, but from what you guys are thinking it will come down to the drivers...thats too bad i was hoping i would blow him away.

deff get practice driving just to be sure, but you should win as long as u dont mess up shifting or a rediculously bad launch. those maxima's feel as fast or faster than our cars b/c of the low end torque, but cobalt ss/sc is a faster/quicker car no doubt. i murdered one but i think that was after stage 2

You'll win with ease, and when you do and he makes all these "excuses", just say wanna lose again?
When he does and loses again, say, "Wanna lose again?"
Then he will stfu and if he doesnt, punch him in the mouth!

dont get too cocky, it takes a while to be able to race the cobalt well. Between launching without to much wheel spin, not bogging the 1-2 upshift, and the fact that your car will be new(new cars are slower than cars w/ 15k miles on em), this is a 50/50 bet here.

Wait until your car is broken in, if you are still in the break-in period and only pushing 10psi, you will be out $100. Also take that time to practice your launches. When you are finally boosting 12.5psi, you will then have gas money for a couple months.
Cheers, and be safe.
