ya again im a 5 speed and have an intake and exhaust. so im a little more peppy then stock 5 speeds, and a lot more peppy then the autos cause lots of power is robbed 1st off and 2nd off is that the 5 speed has better gearing for doing those kinda pulls.
i think that after this was all said and done, good responses, hectic agruments, bottom line good thread for a while. time to end this once and for all. thanks for the comments

Also, to give a bit of a stir (), my friend was driving my car and he was next to my other friends 2.2. They didn't launch or anything but probably from a 5-10 roll they went at it. Thing is, my friend was shifting my stang at a little below 4000 because he didn't want to beat on it LOL. Both are pretty bad drivers, but my Stang pulled on the 2.2 about a car or two shifting at 4k. I guess I can't be as confident in the Si though, because it's MUCH slower than the Stang.

Holy crap is this the same gearing for all Cobalts/Ions? That is insane lol. I remember watching them at the track and thinking that they were low in 2nd but wow...where does the 1-2 shift put you at? 1500?

that, and the mustang is more of a drag car, a musclecar with RWD and a large engine

why cant u 2.4 and 2.2 people just give with racing your cars for gods sake. The way gas prices are now I wouldent even think of racing. Regular fuel is up to $3.10 a gallon and its probably going to rise to $3.30 if not higher by summer. I think super is like $3.50 a gallon....when i first got my car I was into the racing thing too but geez common we all know hondas suck let them pass by you who gives a crap. thats why everyone makes fun of hondas anyway ha ha
and I KNOW you aren't putting a 155 hp Scion TC above an SS 2.4l. You have a really skewed perspective lol

I race my 2.4 SS sedan and she runs around a low 15, about that of a stock Civic SI. Why shouldn't I bother to race my car? I have fun doing it, meet great people, start new friendships, and learn about other people's cars.
So because I own a 2.4 I should shut myself off from having any fun, hanging out, cruising, or making friends? WOW! And I thought the Honda owners were gonna be the trolls here. Guess I'm having to re-asess a few of our very own and thats not cool.
If the SI guys can come here, carry on an adult discussion with NO FLAMING at all! Quite the reverse actualy they're being very respectful and as absolutly nice as they can possibly be. WHY then can't some of our own member be even half as cordual as they are?

Nice drive, I own a 2006 civic si coupe and I have to agree that anycar can beat a bad driver on an si. I dont really get upset over threads of Sis getting beat on the open road because there are alot of factors that could cause error. With all cars it is always a drivers race. not all Si owners are A holes most of us are enthusiasts who are wise when it comes to our potential and true accurate power representation. Don't let this get into a flame war but I must admit that stock for stock with equally matched drivers the Si should have the edge, now the Sc is another story

well we have an every wenseday meet at OU. well we had a newcomer with a 2006 Civic Si in RED (ooooo intimidating ) and he had an "aggressive sport appearence package" with a exhaust and get this a air filter "delete" so basically straight intake no filter. bad for engine but thats what honda guys do i guess.
so hes talking all this ricer smack and im standing there with meatball and just kinda chuckleing. the civic guys like "i can keep up with that ss/sc my hp can match it" im like ya no u wont ur gonna lose every time. hes kinda shut down but his ego Vtec is in the way. so i begin to say "as carroll shelby once said 'hp sells car, trq wins races'" so the punks are like ya we could beat u tho easy 2-3 cars. im begin to say id like to see that happen.
so one thing led to another and we went and lined it up. dessert road no one around and no houses anywhere. just a straight away 2 lanes and a GM plant about 3 miles down. so its like no worries no ones gonna get hurt or be in any danger.
we stop and we line it up at 0. the dig lol. he goes ok ...... 1.....2......3!!! we both go and we both have minimal wheelspin but thats expected. we both have great launches and were off. dead even all the way from 0-35, we shift i get a little jump cause i shifted faster but nothing to give me a lead just completely dead even. so 35-55 we both shift to 3rd. again DEAD EVEN. so we go from 55-70ish? when i have to shift to 4th. he shifts earlier cause of the 6 speed. and i whind out 3rd. by this time its about 75. WE ARE STILL DEAD EVEN. NECK AND NECK. but as soon as i go to 4th it doesnt just end. he then starts to INCH away ever so slowly. seriously i cant say ive had a closer race in my life. and since hes going all out im like screw it lets go. from 75-100ish we are still pulling. at 100 i let off. ok when its starting triple digits i call quits.
by the time i let off he was only 3/4 of a car ahead of me. we both pull over and hes like damn dude thats impressive. keep that car and do some more mods fo sho
i tell him that i was impressed i kept up as good as i did.
we did this lineup 2 times ina row same results both times.
IM LOVING THE 2.2 RIGHT NOW.
have to say that i am definetly surprised and shocked by this race.

I kinda like the fact that the Cobalt turned long time Civic lover Jason Whitman to chevy. He is now putting down 1400hp out of his 2.2L trubocharged cobalt. He is part of the chevy racing crew now at gmgoodwrench.com

As a Si Owner, im going to say your were close in that race due to driver error on the Civics end. I have pulled SS (non supercharged version) and modded 2.2 with my STOCK 2007 Si 4-door. Your account of this is wrong due to the fact that we dont shift into 4th ealier than 70ish, our 3rd gear takes us to 80.

three of my best friends civic club i hang with,i have seen races where a 2.4 or 2.2 pulls an Si,granted on the same note once the top end comes around the situation is reversed with the Si having a higher top end.I have driven the Si extensivly,so my opinion is honest...At the same time the civics no longer present a challange for me now.
